The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles during November’22.

It is expected that the shortage of electronic components may have an impact on December’22 production more than that in the recent months.

Maruti Suzuki should lose its top position for a few months at least. Hopefully that would push them to aim for better build quality.

Will that ever happen anytime soon? (Has even a backlog of 3.69 lakh units)

Why do you think they will change if they go to second position? The current no. 2 or 3 or 4 are not exactly having great build quality or safety record or customer service compared to Maruti.

For the first time in their history, Maruti has a few cars costing 14-17L that are actually seeing strong demand. And they have also cornered a few other very profitable niches as well - their CNG kitted models. I’d like to think they are using the twin tactics of inflating the booking numbers and deliberately going slow on these models. Maintains the hype, keeps the dealers from having to offer discounts and lets the company creep up the price every now and then.

Let’s face it. This is what has become the new definition of a successful car.

Well yes, number 2 Hyundai has good after sales service but not so good build quality while number 3 TML has 5 star rated cars (with imperfect fit & finish) but questionable after sales service. I wish there was at least one company in the top 3 offering both to give Maruti Suzuki some competition.

Unfortunately this is true.

I own a wagonR and Creta and I have found that the Maruti service is better. Thr Hyundai service is costly and they push unnecessary stuff which I have to insist not to do.

Overall, all of them are volume players amd will compromise in one area or other to keep the costs in check irrespective of position.

Re: Has Maruti-Suzuki reached a peak in terms of market share?

Will they lose their numero Uno position? Highly unlikely. As much as their detractors like to think they are hardly a company that rests on it's laurels. They still remain one of the most customer centric companies in the auto space. Plus they excel at playing the long game.

Will they increase market share from current levels? Highly possible given a competition that seems to be short of breath, a great SUV strategy and a very healthy backlog.

Will the market share fall below this in the future?Yes I think so. The biggest threat to that is the KIA and Hyundai group. And perhaps improved performance (read sustained improved quality levels) by the Indian players and a lack of a strong EV strategy. But there are signs that they are thinking quite hard on that too. Suzuki's battery plant a case in point.

Drive on,
Shibu

Re: Has Maruti-Suzuki reached a peak in terms of market share?

Maruti Suzuki's dominance continues. Top 6 best selling cars are from the market leader.

Among the 10 best-selling cars during the month were four SUVs: Brezza, Nexon, Punch and Creta. The SUV segment now commands a share of over 42% in the PV market.

MSIL market share falls below 40%. Has this happened in recent times on a healthy monthly dispatch before?
