No. But, I have gained quite a bit of experience dealing with some dealers in Hyderabad, with which I can safely steer people out of shady cars/dealers.

Thanks. I am honestly confused about this. Happy to get any inputs. Want to give it a shot to see if I can get a decent sedan/MUV, before giving up to buy a new one. I sold my 12 y.o Santro, and have driven Ecosport for a while, that I loved but survived a crash last year.

I found one Vento on Droom, https://droom.in/product/volkswagen-...f8#key-factors

But didn't had enough confidence to pay them 16k first, before I speak to the owner or take a spin.

That's the problem, Droom wants you to pay a substantial amount before even physically looking at the car. Most of the listings are from dealers and this make it even more shady.

Droom owner does not have a very good track record with ethical behaviour or good management. I would personally not trust this group even if things are ok right now. The guy has been arrested in US for insider trading and he has had lot of problems in Shopclues his e-commerce startup.

I'd say better contact the seller directly, the car must be probably listed on other sites too. I had a bad experience with Droom not once but twice and yes, we have bought paid reports too from them and they are nothing but crap.

Their OBV hardly works in real world scenarios and same applies to their history reports, the info available on their reports is something more than which you can get on yourself. Additionally they want some % of commission in the deals made, oh c'mon man; you aren't any ways doing anything that good that we would want to pay you for!!

One premium report attached for reference when we looked at a used Hyundai i10 for a beater car, they didn't had any info of the car and were charging around 150 bucks for the same!!

Do not pay a penny even for the reports, before you have physically looked at/inspected the car. Instead, if the seller is listed with a proper name, try searching for the same in google. You would most probably get the dealers number & location from google maps, which could be used to contact them.

Besides, I never trust any kind of certification(Cardekho, Cartrade etc.). other than OEM's like Truevalue, Toyota Utrust, Ford assured, Honda etc. Most 3rd party certified cars have tampered odo, or even worst some of them with major accidents and repairs.

Recommend you to stick to True Value, Toyota U Trust and other certified used car dealers backed by manufacturer.
The peace of mind they offer will go a long way.

Unfortunately, as they say, a bad dealer can sometimes stock a good car and a good trustworthy dealer can sometimes stock a bad car. So, one has to spend some time in scouting for a good car.

There are plenty of dealers around 100 ft road, Madhapur. But, the cars would have to be scrutinized thoroughly irrespective of the dealer. Meanwhile, I suggest you to keep an eye on the ads on OLX, that should help in shortlisting the cars, will give an idea on the price trend as well.

Re: Used car & bike platform - www.droom.in

I also stumbled upon this portal and yes I have seen cars listed on other portals as well. Thank God I saw the report attached here, it's basically worthless.
I am looking for a used car and been scrutinizing the online portals. But the more I research, the more I am shying away from idea of used car. Anyone can recommend any dealer in NCR

I was in your same position exactly a year ago. I had just moved to Hyderabad from Mumbai and was looking for a used car. Went to a few, all turned out to be dishonest with sky high prices. Even reputed dealers like this one selling who seems to be selling Lamborghinis now!

http://www.autoarena.in/

He tried to sell me a 1st owner Laura without any papers. I searched the RTO website and found it was a two owner car and then said he had made a mistake Also it has 1.5L of work required. The dealers advertised a sky high price and when they found out I didn't know the local language they would raise the price by 10-15%. Got fed up so finally purchased a new Ciaz Diesel.

Thanks for sharing. I think I might have to go that route only.
