New Car Discount Websites - You can apparently save up to 15%

For those who are not too particular about any particular brand/model but only interested in amazing deals, I have found a couple of websites that list out models with the highest discounts. Car companies or dealers might offer discounts for various reasons -
  • To clear piled up inventory at dealer level
  • To clear piled up inventory at company level
  • If a company is going out of business (Eg: Chevrolet)
  • To clear inventory of old model, to make way for new one
  • To push sales of certain slow moving models.

Calling up every dealer in town, visiting them and negotiating a discount is a hassle. That's where these third party brokers come into the picture.

60K cash discount + "special gift" if you book VW Ameo through their website. Incidentally, I found this website via Team-BHP banner ad.

And oh, we have a thread to track new car discounts too

re: New Car Discount Websites - You can apparently save up to 15%

I think this is a good initiative mostly because car discounts , other than than the ads of maruti, hyundai are kept like a closely guarded secret by the brands and they don't disclose much without you actually meeting the sales associate. This wastes a lot of time and energy, so these new websites would be great if they can catch up.

Similar to this there are websites like carwow in UK and that is so comprehensive that it can pit dealers against each other to give the most competitive deal. So i would love to see this being done in India, especially in the metros where it is easy to find multiple dealers of almost every brand within 30-40kms radius

There's another online car purchase website vler.in

It nicely integrates all basic details on one single page itself and including high-res images of the car.

Maybe purchasing a car online may soon become as simple as ordering your favourite cellphone or shirt or book, online! Who knows!

Re: New Car Discount Websites - You can apparently save up to 15%

10 or so years back there was a concerted effort by manufacturers mainly in US and a few in Europe to sell online directly and to reduce their dependence on dealers.
This was lead by Jacques Nasser (CEO) of Ford. Unfortuately the market was not quite ready for this and it flopped (and cost Nasser his job).

Maybe the market is more accepting of buying from a virtual showroom now.

A good thread

This seems a bit out of date.

Lists older gen versions of a lot of cars. Some I noticed - Grand i10, Xcent, Dzire, Brio, Vento, Jetta (out of production now). Maybe it's not a serious player.

There's another website trycarpal.com that I discovered while browsing through Quora. Seems to have pre-negotiated prices and test drives at home.

In Bangalore, they are offering only VW cars. So basically it's just for Chennai, where they have the largest collection.

Overall I think, it's good that such sites are coming up. With more competition, the end consumer will get better deals.
