Volkswagen has silently launched a Highline Plus variant of the Polo 1.2 MPI/1.5 TDI 89 BHP engine lineup.

It gets 16" alloys (same as GT), a few interior design colour tweaks and a new Head Unit.

Price premium over the standard Highline variant is approximately Rs. 26,000/-.

Polo 1.2 MPI was "highline plus" for a long time, the rev-line has to be extremely high for it to move even a little.

16 inch alloys for that engine lol:

I think its just a stock clearing exercise, the MPI 1.2 sales must've gone down with the arrival of TSi and TDi.

With the delay in the strategy for India, VW will resort to such antics till 2019:)

Coming to the Polo Highline Plus, the car is slated for a festive launch. Just like the Vento HL Plus the Polo is expected to get the LED headlights with DRLs , new set of alloys, reverse camera.

In future we can expect a HL Plus trim for AMEO

agree:

It doesn't make any financial sense for VW to launch the new 2017 Polo and Vento/Ameo/Rapid based on the new design when they just launched Ameo last year. I don't think they can even plan to launch the new Polo and keep selling the Ameo/Vento/Rapid based on old design since they may not have the capability at their Pune plant to produce two completely different vehicles (I could be wrong).

Things become even more complicated when you throw in the Tata partnership into the mix. The new Polo might never get launched in India if this thing evolves

Won't happen soon. 2019 is the earliest it could be launched here in India.

That's history.

Even I thought so until I came across this Reuters article last week. To be fair, the alliance hasn't been officially called off yet even though the chances of this happening are quite low now.

Volkswagen Polo Highline Plus to be priced from Rs 7.24 lakh, Bookings open.

This variant will be available on the non-GT Polo range in both - petrol and diesel versions.

The Polo Highline Plus is expected to be priced at approximately Rs. 7.24 lakh for the petrol variant, and at approximately Rs. 8.78 lakh for the diesel (both prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Quote:

Additional equipment over the outgoing top-spec Polo Highline includes new 16-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded infotainment system with standard reverse camera. The Highline Plus Polo is likely to skip the LED headlamps that are on offer on the Vento Highline Plus that went on sale a few months ago.

Isn't GT supposed to be top-spec in Polo? Why avoid pushing these upgrades in there? I am desperately waiting for things like -
While I understand the things lower down in that list may never make it to any polo (except GTI), I really don't understand why many of them can make it to the Polo but not to the Polo GT?! (Android Auto may have been added, but there is no official word about it - no "silent" website update either)

Given the lead time of 2-3 months for the GT TSI, looks like I will have to wait it out till the next year before I buy anything. That's a long wait.

Seems like Cruise control also added in POLO. If we can closely watch picture - 4, we can see cruise control button in the stalks behind steering. Does it come in the earlier model as well?

The highline variant had cruise control for quite some time now. This isn't a new addition.

The colours available in the Highline and + variants are very attractive. I suppose it will be available in 6 shades. Have never been able to fathom why the GT's are sold in only 3 colours, with carbon steel being the only metallic option.

  • New HU with Android Auto
  • Reverse Parking Camera
  • Rear AC vents
  • Center Armrest
  • DRLs
  • ISOFIX mounts
  • maybe Paddle Shifts??

OR you can get the existing GT and make changes in it.
Except for the ISOFIX mounts & rear AC vents, the others are possible at a cost in existing car.

You can get some friend to purchase and bring along / ship a GTi steering wheel from the EU for you & install it here in India. Will be a bit costly but it is possible. If I remember correctly, a BHPIAN has done this already. That would bring peddle shifters to you a bit faster.
