I am not sure if Singapore is the right place to launch a car from India considering that its a controlled (quota based) market out there. One can never expect volumes.

@ Gunbir: U said right man, Fiat Rocks.......

If media reports are correct then the fiat linea is to replace the fiat petra in India by 2008,I wonder how fiat will manage the low pricing

The Grande Punto— with 1.3-litre petrol and diesel engines—is expected to compete with the Maruti Swift and Fiat’s own Palio.

The Linea is likely to be powered by the Grande Punto’s 1.3 litre multi-jet engines. The Linea is expected to compete with the Tatas’ Indigo, the Maruti’s Esteem and Mahindra Renault’s Logan, suggest reports.

Fiat plans mid-size blitz in 2008

Oh boy I wish 2007 just flies away.

i'll have a Grande Punto - Abarth .. thank you very much ..
and er .. um .. i'd like a Linea too please .. for the family ..
My uncle has a Siena 1.2 .. underpowered but brilliant .. comfortable ride, good handling .. and used with respect .. fairly reliable and trouble free too .. and i'm not kidding or being sarcastic .. so different strokes for different folks ..
now .. about that Abarth ...... :p

WOW!! I am excited.............My dad had been with FIat and Maruthi...most of his life.....Would love to see Fiat turn around and impress us....not by its products but by its image in India by proving good sales and services

Fiat has done a turnaround in Europe due to Grande Punto and Linea. So they must be doing things right, finally. Hope they do the same here. It will be a big relief to all Fiat owners and a performance sedan in the mid size price range will be good competition to the assortment of mileage mules which currently dot the category from 5-10L.

Are you sure that they have launched linea in europe. Linea is a car developed mostly in turkey with design aid from fiat italy. As far as i know it is for developing markets like india and brazil.

If fiat puts the 1.3 ltr in linea in any form(75 bhp or 90 bhp) it will be the biggest blunder. Fit it only with a 140 bhp diesel engine and 2 ltr petrol one. And kindly take care of the vehicles fit and finish also take feedback ftom existing customers.

1+2 - A quarter glass on the front and the rear? Something new to me.

3 - The grill is too Audi'ish. But looks great.

I am sure if Fiat launches it and prices it right it can make some room for itself in the market.

The front is a little curvy for my taste. Instead of a horizontal curve along the front bumper, a little linear or less curvy one would have looked great.

Nice Styling, but not evocative enough. Suffers the same malady as the Fiesta, and the Aveo (to a lesser extent)

check out Fiat India

It has been updated. surprisingly Fiat has ditched its own dealers. meaning it shows tata-fiat dealer in abad i.e. cargo motors but doesnt show tej motors which is a comeplete fiat dealership. Its sad on fiats part because the quality of tej motors is miles ahead of tata cargo motors.:Frustrati

also I am confused why it says on tata motors website " Distributed by Tata motors." this dealership confusion is really frustrating.

Very good looking car, though I must say it's a Fiesta/NHC/Mondeo/Accord thing. A-pillar is very NHC, C-pillar and total profile are very Fiesta/Mondeo, and the rump is oh-so-Accord. Still, very good looking.
