Small car safety...

Hi all,

Came across this article on businessweek today...since we have had such a hue and cry over Aveo's safety ratings (without the other equivalent cars being mentioned in the same breath), so this one will make an informative reading ...

How Safe is Your Small Car?

Regards

I read this too, and have a feeling that the brains behind this small car safety publicity (or the lack of it) are none other than those weak in small cars : The American car makers!

Its but obvious that small cars will not be as safe as the bigger and better equipped sedans and SUVs. Whats new?

the small cars are not safe because of the big cars around them. maybe if all cars are small, then the small cars can be safe too. lol

What a silly article.....

Now by the same logic, all Merc S-class owners should dump their Mercs and buy Volvo B7Rs or maybe Monster Trucks. Because after a head-on collision(!!) between a Volvo B7R/Monster Truck and a Merc, the occupants in the truck/bus have more chances of being safe (assuming occupants are wearing seatbelts). LOL!!

Hi all,

I guess everyone missed the drift of the article (in context of posting on this forum). I was just trying press home the point that Hyundai 'small car' aka Accent etc (not confining to Hyundai) were rated equally badly. Since I have seen on this forum, many people back off from Aveo with a stated reason of the famous crash test ratings so I thought this would bring up a fact which is infact obvious

Ofcourse, the very fact Aveos and Accents are small cars (or sub compacts) for Americans shows big is indeed better (& safer) for them...a no-brainer

Wishing fellow tBHPians a great extended weekend and merry xmas...

Cheers!
