Booked Compass? Get a 4x4 for just Rs. 50,000 more. EDIT: It's old 2017 stock

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will be celebrating the 'Jeep 4x4 Month' in India from April 4-30, 2018. As part of this, the carmaker has introduced a new offer. Buyers who are considering a 4x2 variant or those who have already booked one can upgrade to the Limited 4x4 variant by paying just Rs. 50,000.

Booked Compass? Get a 4x4 for just Rs. 50,000 more. EDIT: It's old 2017 stock-jeep-compass-1.jpg

The Compass is available in 10 variants with the choice of petrol and diesel engines. 4WD is only offered with the diesel engine in Limited or Limited Option trim. If a customer plans to purchase or has booked a Limited 4x2 variant, he/she can upgrade to the Limited 4x4 for just Rs. 50,000. As per the current ex-showroom, Delhi pricing, the Limited 4x2 2.0D is priced at Rs. 19.21 lakh, while the Limited 4x4 2.0D costs Rs. 21.18 lakh. Thus, the customer saves approximately Rs. 1.47 lakh from this offer. Customers who have booked a lower variant (Sport or Longitude), will first have to upgrade to the Limited 4x2 variant by paying the difference amount to avail the offer.

Also, during the month, FCA India will organize CampJeep - a 4x4 experience event in Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. Jeep will soon add a new top-spec variant to its Compass range. The Compass Trailhawk will be offered with the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that is available on the standard model. The off-road oriented variant is likely to get a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

So does this mean that effectively the cost of 4x4 variant has been decreased from 21. 18 lakh to 19.71 lakh for a limited time? That's a sweet deal!

Has this got something to do with the launch of the TrailHawk?

No. It is more than that. The cost of the Limited 4*2 is 19.21+ 50k will get you a 4*4 ie 19.71 lakhs. The original cost of the 4*4 is 21.18 lakh. That is a discount of 1.47 lakh.

Not sure if this topic warrants a separate thread though. It's been discussed on the Official Compass thread.

The 4x4 and 6 airbags themselves make this a great deal. It is a no brainer to avail this offer for whoever is buying one before 30th Apr

4x4 models did not sell that well. Is Jeep trying to push 2017 inventories here?If 2018 manufactured 4x4 compass are included in the offer, it makes no sense to buy a Limited 4x2.

This could be because they'll be launching the trailhawk variant at a very competitive price which may make the current limited 4x4 obsolete. Better to get rid of old stock with some OFFERS (helps in branding the product/company as well) rather than offering cash discounts.

The product is selling well and they wouldn't want to get people used the word "discounts" and have them expect some on every variant.

If I had just bought a 4x2 variant, I'd be sure as hell . As noted in our Official Review, the AWD system is pretty darn competent (by soft-roader standards). 50 grand is nothing for the AWD & 4 additional airbags. Whoever is buying it, please also upgrade the tyres to all-terrain rubber.

Of course, if budget isn't a problem, then wait for the Trailhawk instead .

Absolute no brainier in paying the 50k for the AWD.

Also are the all terrain tyres good for regular on the road usage?

Also the Trailhawk if bought on the 4th of April next year, may just be 50 k over the 4*4.: Stupid:

Actually, the Limited 4X4 was launched at 19.99 Lac ex showroom last July and after the recent promotion, it is coming to 19.79 Lacs. So although it looks like a massive price cut, the car is actually more or less back to what it cost at the time of launch. Still, a good buy for someone looking for a nice modern and compact 4X4 for under 20 Lacs ex showroom.

BTW, Jeep has updated the new reduced price on their price list, so I think this will be more or less permanent price cut.

The one flaw that I somehow cannot reconcile to, is the lack of cruise control. This is a very useful tool on long highway drives to give one's foot some rest or allow it to stretch and flex a little. I found it makes a huge difference in making such drives more comfortable. While even B segment cars nowadays come with this feature, and it is quite small as a cost component, I find it surprising that Jeep left this out even in the top end variants of the compass.

This price cut has me in a sort of dilemma. I was looking at the 4X2 Diesel but the additional 4 airbags for 50K more is enticing. But am not sure whether it is worth carrying around 80kg of 4X4 hardware which I am never going to use, while taking a hit on performance and fuel economy.

Any thoughts anyone?

This is a very well veiled attempt at clearing stocks of the 4x4 Because, Just think about it; why would they celebrate a 4x4 month just before the trailhawk launch, which is a much better offroader.

I am not a fan of cruise control on the manual drive cars, they always work better in automatics. Maybe the automatic Trailhawk may get one.

Seriously go for the 4*4 at 50k more. Even if you do not use the 4*4, safety is top priority. Yes you may lug the additional 200 kilos, but remember it may get you out of a sticky situation on a holiday in the hills. Go for one and also take off road.

Is there any news on the Compass 4x4 Limited (O) ? On the Jeep website, 50k discount seems to be applicable only on the 4x4 Limited variant. I'm looking at getting the Limited (O) mainly for the bi-xenons as most people have been complaining that the projectors on the Limited are pretty darn useless. Can anyone confirm if the Limited (O) is eligible under this scheme?
