Thanks for this update. Are you sure about this Asta (O) CVT? Hyundai website still shows CVT only till Asta. Could you confirm the news source.

[Edit]: With a bit of search found that this is true and Hyundai has done this for 2019 i20s. Thanks.

The burning question - how is it to drive? The 1.2 engine barely just about cuts it with the manual stick shift. How it fares with a CVT with it's rubber band effect is what will decide it's fate. There seem to be no S mode or paddle shifts or virtual manual override on offer. Afraid this might end up like the Micra CVT, smooth but BORING.

Which indian Hyundai car has ever been exciting. Hyundai literally makes the most boring vehicles and never made any effort otherwise.

Thanks to the tax rules related to engine size, we always get underpowered machines struggling to perform. No manufacturer even fits a sporty suspension cause they are criticized later by reviewers for harsh ride.

Wow ! This would make the cars overall packaging more competitive.

I remember, when we were scouting for an automatic petrol hatch - and settled for Jazz mainly because of its CVT. Wish i20 had this on offer about an year back - this would have been the selection for sure.

Did you guys finally book it? Any timeline for delivery?

Yep booked it in dec, and got the baby home today. Delivery was delayed as i rejected first delivery due to minor scratches on the doors and got the sales team do the fixes plus a teflon coat as penalty.
Yes 2019 one got few extra bells and whistles, and same Asta i.e. Sportz+ otr is 10.13lacs in blr. Thats 3k lesser, however the year end discount was massive so no regrets. Go for asta(o) otr 11.2lacs.

Again the rubber band effect is very prominent in i20 esp. in the new car and so highway or driving enthusiasts should stick to manual. I didn't feel it so much so even in baleno cvt td, as i felt in i20. But then it has its own pros.

I have been trying to use the manual mode to avoid the rubber-band effect, but it doesn't get any better. Yes, the rubber-band effect goes away but the engine gets very noisy without much acceleration.

The car and that 1.2 engine are anyway, a horrible match.. given the weight of the car. Adding CVT would only make matters worse.

I find a 6 speed torque converted inadequate in Hyundai vehicles, at no point does it engage the right gear, tons of torque loss leading to bad F.E or poor acceleration. Can only imagine how it'll be in a 1.2 engine. CVT's are smooth though anything but fast. Hyundai and automatics aren't anywhere close to the best.

Hi, could you just list the std accessories they gave with the car?
Mudflaps, Idol, Floor Mats, Freshener, Dustbin anything else?

I got the Pillows (2, and 2 neck pillows). They had promised a mobile charger which they haven't fulfilled yet.
Accessaries are just an eyewash. Floor Mats are fabric type and I will have to anyway buy the rubber mats. Idol is a picture stuck between two acrylic pieces.

Just for general info mileage in neck to neck traffic is not so great. 6.5kmpl after 140km of puritan Bengaluru driving. Brake pedal could gave been softer for more comfort since that's the only one you will be using in cities like ours.

FE I am getting so far has been very disappointing. It seems to be fluctuating between 6 and 7 depending on whether I am driving short distance, bumper to bumper traffic or relatively open stretch. That is worst than my 15 year old Forester with 2.0 engine, full time AWD and weighing 1.4 ton!
I was thinking that there could be an issue with my particular car and was going to report during the first service.
Does anyone know how to switch off the loud sound it makes when you use the remote to lock or unlock?
Also, what is the optimum tyre pressure? Recommended pressure of 30 psi results in somewhat harsh and bumpy ride.

Lol I too thought the same, my polo gave better mileage than this.. I am also noticing a mild vibrating sound emanating at low speeds which disappears at higher speeds. FE is 6kmpl now after 250km. No way to turnoff the sound per the sales guy.

Did you also notice that when you stop at a signal in D position (with the brake depressed), there will be mild vibrations which fils the car.
I am also surprised about how noisy the engine+CVT combination makes when you are accelerating. Seems like there is no proper insulation between the engine bay and the cabin.

Can you try this and let me know if this works ?? Apparently there is a auxiliary horn in the engine bay which needs to be disconnected.

Thanks

Any updates on the FE? I have shortlisted the i20 CVT with the 6 air bags. But the FE reported here is like :Shockked:

Is this something that is expected till the first service or something we may have to live with?

Don't think anyone has reported good mileage on the i20 CVT, if you want better mileage, Honda Amaze would be the choice.
