It is HUGE! You could see it from a km away. After reading your post, I thought of clicking 2 "real world" pictures just to put things into perspective. Been there since many months now:

If that video was released by FCA, a big thumbs down to them. Not a single person working on that high rise scaffolding had a safety belt or any sort of fall prevention device attached. Were they just looking at how the hoarding would look and not what happens if one of the "70 skilled craftsmen" fell down from that height? Doesn't matter who the contractors for the job were.

That line could have easily read "3 weeks, 50 designs and xx deaths later".

I know it's a common practice in the Indian construction industry and every other industry. Safety, gets the last priority. But in a promotional video like that, it's an eyesore. Appalling to say the least.

Bloody eyesore!!! The mountains look beautiful as such, I hope no other marketing genius gets this idea. How come there is no litigation against this!?

This spot has been used (or misused) for hoardings since many years. Many years back, Tata DoCoMo had put up a shiny billboard. After protests & issues, it was removed. Wonder how/why new billboard has been allowed at same place.

The billboard is huge and unique, but that doesn't make it any more beautiful than other eyesores. There are far too many billboards spoiling the view of natural beauty in Mumbai-Pune expressway.


I think a better solution will be to cover the entirety of the expressway by billboards and have the highway toll-free, getting money only from advertisers.

Most of the billboards have been removed from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway due to the frequent falling of billboards caused by strong winds here. Either the Jeep billboard will be removed or the wind Gods will bring it down.

Thankfully it is not a full billboard and there is enough gap between the letters, words and the Jeep cut out. Else, Pune would henceforth have received less rains during SW monsoons as it would have fallen in the rain shadow region of this billboard.

It’s just past the first food mall heading Pune from Mumbai.

Also it’s not the first time that there has been an advertisement there.

There always was some billboard there since many years.

Wow!!!Jeep must literally is feeling the heat on the face of their dwindling sales. Looks like someone at Jeep's upper echelon just got their salary cut or worse, put in PIP.

But why waste your money on needless stunts like this, when every premium customers in India knows about Jeep Compass and its shortcomings? To start with, give them a premium experience, both sales and service, and a reliable product and see how the sales grow. Why resort to Rakhi Sawant tactics?

Some more information just came in via a press release:

Laqshya Media Group partnered with Jeep India to create India’s largest outdoor media installation. The billboard is around 25, 000 square feet and equivalent to thirty billboards. To formulate, it required 70 skilled craftsmen, 80,000kgs of metal and 45 days to complete the project. The installation is 253 feet wide and 100 feet tall. The Jeep logo itself is 164.6 feet long and 65.8 feet tall.

PIP for what?

They sold more than 25000 units in one year, which is 10 times more than the nearest competition - the Tucson which sold 2229 units.

Even the similarly priced, seven seater and extremely VFM in comparison Hexa could manage only half the sales, whereas the well established XUV 5OO posted only a slightly better figure of around 28k vehicles.

If anyone needs to be put in PIP - its the person responsible for delaying their future launches - like the Trailhawk and even the Renegade, which is currently a question mark.

Like the Compass' sales, this billboard is losing a bit of its shine. Come on FCA, go get that shot of adrenaline and get back to working hard. You need to sell more aggressively and bring the in-demand variants here (i.e. the Diesel AT).

Tata Harrier billboard inspired by Jeep COMPASS coming up on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

This is very likely, inspired from the Jeep Compass bill board which is slightly ahead of the designated place which Tata has chosen. Jeep Compass billboard can be seen the moment the ghats start, meanwhile, the Harrier bill board is on top of the last tunnel on offer towards Lonavala and is visible while you are also heading towards Mumbai back again.
