Maruti offering Tour H1 taxi variant of the Alto

Resurrecting the dead thread.
Did anyone know that Maruti Suzuki sells Alto in Tour avatar??

Received the discount sheet for MSIL and noticed Tour H1 in the bottom of the image:

I was shocked to see that.
Search Maruti Suzuki Tour H1 ALL and you'll see what I am talking about.

If this is true, this is the limit of foolishness our Indian market is having.
We reject some brands altogether for being Taxi maker and happily / blindly accept the other.

Also those sales figures of 1.5 lakhs units per month, should be broken down into passenger cars and these tour variants.
Then we will get more clearity by how much REAL margin MSIL Leads the market.

Re: Scoop Pics! Maruti Alto 800 Facelift caught. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 2.49 lakhs

You are saying it in a way, as if selling a tour variant is a bad thing. Why is that so?

Btw, Alto Taxis aren't new up here in the north. They are a frequent sight in Uttarakhand and Himachal.

If selling a car as cab / taxi is Not a bad thing, then why Maruti sell their other cars like Swift / new Dzire / Brezza and all Nexa offerings?

Go through Tata Tiago or Tata Hexa thread on this forum, where 1 - 2 posts had pictures of those cars with yellow plates. The reactions from people were like 'Don't repeat the mistakes, Tata' etc.

We, as Indian car market, have rejected cars or even a brand altogether for being a taxi manufacturer.

For not selling Nexa products in taxi market, the reason they give is 'We don't want to see our premium offering with Yellow plates'.

At least Maruti or every manufacturer should honestly give the sales figures of cars sold under white plates vs yellow plates.

Re: Scoop Pics! Maruti Alto 800 Facelift caught. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 2.49 lakhs

The general perception is that TATA failed because they were TAXI fleet.
That is simply not true at all. Tata failed because they failed to produce good cars or aspirational cars for a long time when compared to their direct counterparts. Then whatever little bit they made and sold, they did not give proper support. That is why they failed. Not because they were taxi fleet.

If they are doing good now, that is because they have spectacular cars and people are loving it. No one is checking whether they are used in Taxi segment or not. People who loved these new cars but ended up buying other ones always pointed out the ASS uncertainty. Very rarely was the Taxi fleet reason brought out. Agreed there are 1/2 people in every 100 who would associate Taxi with Cheapness. But that is a small drop in an ocean.

PS: In past one week I have seen at least 2 latest version of Dzire in Yellow plates(Not Tour Versions). Are people going to stop buying new Dzire because of this?

It is right that there is nothing wrong in buying a car which is popular in the Taxi market and rather it sort of certifies on the long term reliability and frugal maintenance costs of the vehicle. But at the same time, there is no hiding from the fact that as a private car buyer, one does feel a bit disheartened to be seen in such a car. And yes that includes Innova too. In fact most Innova buyers complaint about its taxi image and only buy it due to lack of other options.

Re: Maruti offering Tour H1 taxi variant of the Alto

Is it wheel cap or hub cap? from the pic it seems that hub cap is not provided unless it is black in colour which creates a doubt about its absence.

If the hub cap has been removed, this will be height of cost cutting by MSIL. It costs Rs 30 a piece.

Cheers !

Re: Maruti offering Tour H1 taxi variant of the Alto

Maruti Suzuki woos cab aggregators with Alto H1.

Christened Alto H1, this variant is designed specifically for buyers that run their vehicles under Ola, Uber and other such taxi aggregators.

Quote:
At present, the variant is launched only in a few markets such as Tamil Nadu.

Powered by an 800cc engine, the Alto H1 is priced at Rs 3.64 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) and features only power steering and air-conditioning. Other widely present features seen on cars such as power windows and music system will not be part of the Alto H1.
