Thanks to Vivek Dhiman for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

A test mule of a CNG variant of the Ford Figo has been spotted for the first time, indicating that Ford might add a CNG variant to the Figo line-up in the near future.

According to the spy images, the test car appears to be based on the facelift version of the Figo that is yet to be launched in the Indian market. It has the new dual-tone rear bumper and a CNG sticker on the rear windshield.

The Figo facelift is expected to be offered with a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon Series petrol engine. The CNG variant could use the same engine but will have a slightly lower power output. The engine is likely to be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

This ends the quest for a safe, well sorted, dynamically superior alternate fueled car in India.
What would probably make it a DZire beater would be a sub 8 lakh rupee price and a 5 speed torque converter to take advantage of the Urban populace that needs a reasonable to maintain runabout with boot space and auto transmission!

Finally, Ford is thinking of generating volumes!!
With this they can target the city buyer and the Uber/Ola taxi market.

And like Frank says, an AT would just make the deal sweeter. Not sure of it beating the DZire though.

I can't figure out why do you think this car is safe when it performed badly in the crash tests?
Liva is the safer option.

It's definitely safer than a Wagon R or Alto 800 cng, right?

I agree with almost all the points you had mentioned, except for the boot space part. A sub-4m sedan or a hatch with a large CNG tank sitting in the boot will leave little room for cargo.

The taxi market, especially in NCR region where diesel is battling for life will be the primary contributors I suppose, as CNG is relatively unheard of in the southern part of our country.

And AT I think is highly unlikely as that comes only with the 1.5L Dragon engine and not the 1.2 Dragon. And a efficiency conscious customer who is going for CNG will not be too impressed with the 1.5 Dragon + Torque converter automatic option.
