Rumour: Renault Captur AT coming in 2019

With dismal sales in Captur, Renault is trying its luck to boost its sales. Will the CVT variant give its sales a boost?

Renault Captur Automatic To Be Launched In India Next Year.

The Captur is all set to get a CVT unit for the petrol variant and it'll be launched early next year. This will be the same unit as the one on the Duster petrol, which the company launched in May 2017.

If a CVT variant were to be launched today, I am pretty sure it still wouldn't salvage Captur. Next year launch? Forget it, Renault!

Myriad of factors contributed to the demise of Captur; overpricing, no wow-feel, not advertised properly, poor sales and even poorer after sales etc.

Captur seems to be recovering slowly in terms of sales. The sales are at par at 500 odd cars with the count for Duster. So definitely a slow but sure recovery.

Why are they even bothering. It's not as if people are waiting with bated breath for this addition. They should rather bring in the next gen duster and capitalize on the unshakable brand value of it

Result of the huge discounts that were going on to clear old stocks - officially around 2 lakhs, but can be bargained for even more.

If this is true, then launch of new Duster in India might further get delayed. Renault may have some long term strategies, however I don't see much much of a point in investing further on a product that can be counted as an all time flop. Reminds me of Ford Fiesta debacle- Mechanically wonderful products let down by small yet significant things that matters to a regular Joes.

Re: Renault Captur : Official Review

Why are most manufacturers providing CVT with petrol engines only? Why can they not get gearboxes that can handle higher torque? Honda has done a great job with the City diesel but has down-tuned the torque by 20%
Renault should get a quality auto gearbox for the Captur

1: Cheaper to make
2: Better fuel economy to meet Indian's no 1 requirement
