This all new model of Camry is scheduled to launch in Thailand next month, IMO Toyota India will make this Camry available here by January 2019

Previous generations of the Camry imported to India have only come from Japan, hence unlikely that we will get the Thailand Camry here.

The previous gen Camry & Camry hybrid which is currently on sale were never imported as a CBU but were always assembled at Toyota India. Do you have any proof to back your statement of the Camry being imported as a CBU ?

The first gen which was sold here in India was imported as CBU from Japan,subsequently from the next generation, it was as CKD assembly from Japan kits. Camry sold in Thailand is a bit different in spec.

Good thing, but the fact still remains true that the current on sale Camry/Camry Hybrid were CKD & the upcoming next gen will be CKD as well.

Camry used to be a CBU from Japan in the past. The current and the one before are both CKD (since 2009) and so will be the next generation. What Nirmal probably meant was that we will get the same version they sell in Japan and not the Thailand one which is little different, though to me all looks same

Why Toyota put the Camry under camouflage, when it has been launched in the rest of the world?

I guess creating hype make more sense and to create excitement and buzz in the media and automotive circles.

I hope they price it well. It's a great car that is losing out because some doorknob at Toyota isn't smelling the coffee.

There's no way they're going to get anyone to pay north of INR 35L for this thing. If they price is at around INR 30L on-road, this might do well. I remember seeing a lot of Camry's on Mumbai roads when they were priced well.
