Rumour: Next-gen Hyundai i20, Creta to debut in 2020

According to a media report, Hyundai is planning to launch the next generation i20 sometime in mid-2020. The next generation Creta is also rumoured to arrive by the end of 2020.

The next-gen i20 is expected to be more spacious and will have a quieter cabin. It is also likely to be equipped with more features. Higher variants could get a touchscreen infotainment system and a sunroof. Reports suggest that the current 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines may be carried over with minor modifications to make them compliant with BS-VI emission regulations.

The next-gen Hyundai i20 will compete with the upcoming Tata X451, Honda Jazz and the Maruti Baleno in the premium hatchback segment.

The second generation Creta is expected to be larger in proportions compared to the current model. Apart from updated styling, the new compact SUV is expected to get new features. Reports suggest that Hyundai might introduce new BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines on the next-gen Creta. A seven-seat version of the SUV is expected in 2021.

The new Creta will take on the likes of the Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier and upcoming compact SUVs from Volkswagen and Skoda.

Next Gen Hyundai Creta coming soon ? Known in China as iX25, the model was spotted in Tests in China, still quite camouflaged, launching in August.

This looks like the QXI compact SUV to me than the Creta. The wheels are similar to the mule seen in India and so is the rear door windowline.

August is too soon, isn't it? Especially when the facelift was launched just last year. I think it will be at least 2020 before it reaches India. Though it can launch outside India before that.

New spy pictures of the next-gen Hyundai i20’s interior have confirmed that it will have a digital instrument cluster as well as a sizeable high-set touchscreen infotainment system. The former corroborators our previous report that the next-gen i20 will come with a full-digital instrument cluster, similar to the one seen on the new ix25 (new Creta) that went on sale in China earlier this year.

The layout of the digital instrument cluster is somewhat similar to that on the ix25, with two dials – one for the speedo and one for the RPM – flanking a central area that displays various parameters of the hatchback. However, the unit is more rounded than the one on the ix25 and gets more conventional-looking dials with digital needles indicating speed and RPMs.

Other details seen in the images include a new multifunction steering similar to those on other newer Hyundai, along with a high-set touchscreen infotainment system and an auto climate control unit down below. On the whole, the layout is quite similar to the new Grand i10 Nios’.

So the new gen i20 will have tachometer in anticlockwise direction like the MG Hector it seems.

I don't see a logical reason behind this unless the designer must think both the bar readings going in opposite direction must look pleasing to the eye or something. I'm not a great fan of digital screens but overall this digital screen isn't that bad either, looking like analog almost.
