State wise auto sales in the first half of this Financial year ( April - Sep 18)

-17,41,234 cars have been sold in the first six months

- West Zone has emerged as the Top Zone, followed by South and North.

- Maharashtra retains the No.1 State Rank, UP comes second.

The Top TWO Auto Companies Market share in various States.

- Maruti + Hyundai contribute to ~68% of passenger car sales in India

-Maruti has an overall market share of 52.2% for H1. Maruti’s dominance is clearly seen in majority of the states

-Hyundai has a overall Market Share of 15.7%. Hyundai enjoys maximum acceptance in West Zone with 17.1% Market Share

Great insights - would be interesting to see some more graphs w.r.t population (cars per person) , population density, size of state etc.

E.g - Kerala is the 22nd largest state & 13th most populated, and it ranks # 4 in car sales. Similarly MP is 2nd largest state with 5th largest population, but ranks # 10.

Wow

With the state's size and population density, I really don't know how to feel about Kerala's car population. More numbers than the neighbouring bigger states, with narrower roads and population density.

While am a believer that we can have more in Kerala citing Japan's example, we do have an elephant in the room.
