The X7 is based on the Concept X7 iPerformance that was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. It measures 5,151 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 3,105 mm.

The car has an upright stance typical of SUVs. At the rear, it has wraparound tail lights with chrome detailing and twin chrome exhaust tips.

Reports suggest that BMW is likely to offer the X7 M50d in India. This variant is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces 394 BHP @ 4,400 rpm and peak torque of 760 Nm @ 2,000-3,000 rpm. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The new BMW X7 will compete with the Land Rover Discovery and Mercedes-Benz GLS in India.

Contrary to many, I quite like the X7. Defiantly better looking than the GLS and those captain seats at the back are a winner! The Innova has been a choice for several HNI’s primarily for its captain seats. I know several families that have E/5 series but also keep an Innova for long distance because of the rear captain seats and higher ground clearance. The X7 meet both worlds.
However, BMW is using the MBIL trick to launch it as a top end CBU and then trickle it down to the lower spec diesel version. Apparently prices are going to start at 1.6 ex-showroom for the X7 M50 version, there won’t be many takers at this price but when they do launch the base diesel CKD for 1cr or below the perception of it yet being 1.6cr will play in its favour

I feel the same way as you do Sahil. When I first saw the X7, I was rather unimpressed and hated it. However now that Ive seen the interior and engine options, I am defo putting this on the shopping list. I love the captain seats and will be looking into buying the captain seated 50d model.

However, I doubt they will bring the new X7 under 1 cr even for the 30d model. I am more or less sure theyll park it over or around 1.10 cr.

The new X5 M sport G05 model will reach around 1 cr seeing how rapidly prices are increasing. So they will easy give a gap of 10 lakhs at the bare minimum. Keep in mind they still have to park the all new yet to be revealed X6. That will be done in 2020.

Moreover, I am sure the captain seats will only attribute 10% of the X7's total sale. Many people will still prefer the 7 seater option with the bench seats in the middle. I know I wont though. The air suspension coupled with captain seats and a powerful quad turbo giving a sub 6 second performance, imma reach my destination quickly and peacefully. :)

Agree, BUT, I am not sure about the Rear Seats yet, there is no change in the way how we sit 'IN' the rear on the new X5, so I will wait till I actually check in person. BTW, VOLVO is having stocks of 2017/ 18 XC90 - Hybrid and Captain seats and around 20 L discounts (this was early December though)

BMW X7 to be assembled locally

According to a media report, BMW will assemble the X7 locally at its Chennai plant. The carmaker is gearing up to launch the new luxury SUV in India on January 31, 2019.

The new X7 is based on the CLAR platform that is shared with other models like the 7-Series. It measures 5,151 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 3,105 mm.

BMW is expected to launch the M50d variant in India. It has a large twin-kidney grille in the front with twin-pod LED headlamps. At the rear, it has L-shaped LED tail lights and twin chrome exhaust tips.

It is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces 394 BHP @ 4,400 rpm and peak torque of 760 Nm @ 2,000-3,000 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

If you look at second picture, it's already running on the space saver :)
( I think Karan had pointed this already in another thread)

22 Inches in India, heard it's going to be priced over 1,6+Cr, wonder what will be the logic?

Maybe they don't want to sell cars just showcase as a Model.

I will instead buy an M2 and X5 with that money:D

I think this is where BMW loses the plot here, even when I got my X1 I had a tyre failure in a week and it made me nervous to drive for the next 6 months. Ford and Toyota have tyres with higher sidewalls that handle almost anything

Just received invite to preview X7 before the launch, I am hoping that this is not an odd specced CBU but actual model for Indian roads, will share my experience after the experience.

I am also interested in this. Provided we get sane pricing for the 30d model.

Hoping to replace my GL 350 next year.

Expect an upward of 1 Cr on base model of X7. New X5 is expected to be priced around 85. From what I know is that they are planning to place it higher than GLS. Expect Q8 also with similar pricing.

The bigger kidney bean grille doesn't look too odd.
