Re: Toyota plans new MPV & SUV in the Rs 15 - 20 lakh bracket

Recently, a heavily camouflaged prototype of the vehicle was spotted testing in extreme cold weather condition.

The new Toyota compact SUV will be designed on the new TNGA-B platform.

Under the hood, the vehicle will feature a 1.5L hybrid petrol engine as we have seen in the new Yaris hatchback. This hybrid powertrain delivers power close to 115bhp. Transmission options on offer might include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit.

Toyota Yaris based SUV is likely to made debut in the second half of this year. As of now, the Japanese carmaker has no plan to launch the Toyota Yaris based SUV in the Indian market. Here, the company will bring in the re-badged version the Maruti Vitara Brezza that’s slated to hit roads by the end of this year.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

In the competitive C-SUV segment for India , Suzuki- Toyota will be launching the first SUV in terms of platform and power-trains.

The SUV will launch sometime in late 2021 or early 2022.

- Will be based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform – a low-cost derivative of the modular Toyota New Global Architecture for emerging markets – Same as Toyota RAIZE.

- Design cues will be from the upcoming NEW VITARA due in Oct-20

- Maruti's 1.5L petrol engine is likely to be updated for generating higher power and torque. Could be available in Hybrid variants too.

- A new 1.2L turbo petrol engine is too under development that could debut on the new mid-size SUV.

- Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

Quote:
The new compact SUV might carry upright stance, pronounced wheel arches with tyre size of up to 17-inches.

Oh, So it is a stretched version of the Raize as initially speculated, instead of the next gen Vitara.

Or is the next gen Vitara being jointly developed with Toyota?

Will be designed jointly by Suzuki -Toyota.

Will wear different ‘top hats’, and styling will conform to their respective manufacturer’s templates.

The Suzuki version will follow the new Vitara design cues( as of ACROSS ?), while Toyota's will likely follow the design cues of the Corolla Cross.
For Info- Toyota Corolla Cross and Suzuki Across have common exteriors(panels) shared between them.

On Interiors, there will be differences but certain components will be shared between the two SUV's for gaining volumes to drive estimated costs.

It will be manufactured at the Toyota’s Bidadi plant and supplied to Maruti, a reverse business model in manufacturing of the Toyota Glanza.

Re: Toyota plans new MPV & SUV in the Rs 15 - 20 lakh bracket

The upcoming Toyota- Suzuki Creta rival SUV is confirmed based on a stretched version of the Toyota Raize/Daihatsu Rocky.

But regarding the MPV, the only confirmation as of now seems to be this bit of info in the Nexa future plans news.

Toyota plans new MPV & SUV in the Rs 15 - 20 lakh bracket-screenshot_20200725120010.png

B560 Toyota has the old B platform, which the Indian market Yaris is based on. Also it has the TNGA-B platform, on which its latest Yaris and other small new models are based.

The latter won't make it here citing cost reasons, while there are plenty of small MPVs on the old B platform

But seeing that the Raize based model is coming here, most likely the upcoming MPV maybe based on the Daihatsu low cost DNGA platform.

That brings us to this.
Three years old concept. Still.

The Daihatsu DN multisix.
No way the MPV would look like this, it may even be bigger. But this is the roughest guesstimate we can have.

Just hope there is a proper full blown hybrid too, to make up for the lack of diesel.

Isn't the Across the Suzuki counterpart of the Rav4?
Except for the shrunken look, the Corolla cross doesn't seem to share much visible parts with the Rav4/Across.

Do not forget Toyota Corolla Cross is an alternative to RAV4 in many markets. With a length of 4.5m it is possible for sharing many parts with their new cars.

In fact interiors of the upcoming SUV for India could be similar to the ACROSS/Corolla Cross too.

Quote:
Corolla Cross will sit below the RAV4 in Toyota’s SUV line-up.
It shares a lot of its underpinnings and body panels with the Suzuki ACross
Quote:
A closer look reveals that the Corolla Cross actually shares a lot of its body panels and has an almost identical interior to the recently unveiled Suzuki ACross SUV. The cabin features a monotone theme with a few contrasting bits, along with a large touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage.
In short, the Upcoming SUV's from the alliance will look like the ACROSS/ COROLLA CROSS.

Re: Toyota plans new MPV & SUV in the Rs 15 - 20 lakh bracket

Toyota Taisor could be the name of upcoming Toyota Mid-Size MPV.

Will be shared with Maruti Suzuki.

Will it have a strong Hybrid variant?

Quote:
The Toyota Taisor will more likely be launched before the end of this financial year in India and it will reportedly become the first cross-badged Toyota vehicle offered to Maruti Suzuki. While its identity is concealed, it is expected that the Toyota Taisor to sit below the Innova Crysta and along the lines of the well-received Kia Carens in an expansive range.

Is it a reworked Avanza/Veloz? Pray it has the proper hybrid version. Though the Taisor name feels something that would be more SUVish than MPVish.

Due to Toyota's partnership with Suzuki, any products developed by Daihatsu (like the Avanza/Veloz) should be ruled out for India.

Will the rumored 7-seater Yaris Cross be the MPV for India?

In a filing the brand has confirmed of an upcoming MPV. A Toyota vehicle being shared with Maruti Suzuki.

Quote:
Your company is preparing for CMPV (C-segment multi-purpose vehicle) launch in FY23, which is produced not just for company but also will be the first cross badge Toyota vehicle being offered to MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited)

This is referring to the Innova Hycross, which is internally categorized as a C-MPV. Not another MPV. So it will receive a Suzuki version?
