I wouldn't take that ad that lightly...

The diesel cars that have laid claims to maximum mileage are the Fiesta and the Verna... Fiesta has a 1.4L engine, producing 67 and pulling 1150 ... Verna on the other hand has a bigger 1.5L engine with VGT producing 110 bhp...

Swift has a 1.3L engine, producing 75 bhp, pulling 1075 kgs... The smallest engine of the lot, and the lightest car of the lot... And the engine has already won praises for its fuel efficiency...

I dont see any reason why it cannot be the most fuel efficient car... What if it is???

Alto is called the Most fuel efficient petrol car... I dont think they quote any magazines to support that also... It is an accepted fact....

I sure hope, Maruti's claims are right... ;)

From what i read bout the FIAT 1.3 Multijet in GRANDE PUNTO, if this is the same engine then there is a ECU remap available boosting the power from 75bhp to 100BHP. Now that sorta power would definatly make Swift HOT HATCH.

Its not just due to an ECU remap - its VGT. The same 1.3 Multijet is available in normal (75 bhp) and VGT (88 bhp) forms

I hope a Pete's tuning kit will be available for the Swift DDiS soon... ;)

I read somewhere that in near future (2008-09?)Petrol and Diesel prices will be made almost same. Something to do with WTO. In such eventuality how does Petrol vs Diesel calculation work out? Does some one know more information on this?

On yesterdays Car & Bike show on NDTV Profit, Sid did a TD of the Swift diesel and they claimed they got a combined(city+highway) mileage of 22 kmpl with AC on all the time. If that is the case then one can expect at least 17 kmpl in the city and around 26 kmpl highway which is phenomenal and could well justify the premium.

Looks like it will break the 38 KMPl record set by Verna recently :Cheering:

how about the maintenance of the car, is the technology going to reduce maintenance cost also, or just the noise and vibration alone.

I've booked DDiS today with Sagar Automobiles, Bangalore. Mine was the 8th DDiS booked with this dealer (with full payment).

The OTR price was 5.33 for LDi but the dealer told me that it was due for a hike in Feb 3rd (owning to increase in steel prices) so I will have to pay ~10k extra (as the vehicle is billed only at the time of delivery).

The dealer failed to commit on any timeline about the delivery, he said Maruti is going to inform the inventory status to the dealers only in the first week of Feb. But he said it could approximately take 1-1.5 months.

Hoping to drive my DDiS soon !

I am planning to buy my "first" car. As of now, I plan to buy a diesel car. I am confused if I should buy the 2007 Indica Turbo or the Swift Diesel. The Swift-D surely has a great engine.... of course it is more expensive. I still have not got a convincing answer to buy the Indica Turbo. I am really worried about its long term relaibility since I am not the kind who would change cars frequently. Guys, can some expert help me with this dilemma? Is Swift worth the extra buck? Can I have some reasons for and against the Indica Turbo which would help me decide? The customer service issues need not be detailed here ;-)

Let me analyze your figures a bit

Petrol Cost Per Month : Cost of Car + Cost of Fuel
: CC + Rs. 7140

Diesel Cost Per Month : Cost of Car + Premium + Cost of Fuel
: CC + Rs. 2543 + Rs. 3360
: CC + Rs. 5903

So in month, from Day 1 you are saving Rs 1237. If you are driving 1680 km in a month.

Premium = Rs. 152600/60 months = Rs. 2543
Premium 2 = Rs. 152600/36 month = Rs. 4238

Taking into account Tech's EMI calculations, which are spot on.

Here is my version. I have taken the mileage to be 20, please excuse.

Excellent analysis.. one thing u have missed out is that at the end of 5 years the Swift Disel will have atleast 50k more resale value than the petrol version.

I did recieve an email from a Dealer in Coimbatore (being my home town)... He had no clue about Feb price hike....

how is the drive?

how is the rattling sound of the engine?

To correct the one who talked about its weight around 1000-1100 KGS

Its wrong, diesel Swift weighs 1300+ KGS.

Suzuki UK site shows that suzuki swift 1.3 DDiS takes 5.7L per 100k m in urban driving and it takes 4L per 100 km on highway. I think that these numbers would be close to our indian version too. What do you guys think?. check Welcome to Suzuki .
