What is this that I see on Jaguar India's website? Does this mean the I-Pace is launching soon?

I wonder how much it costs for bringing it through CKD route for Jaguar? Otherwise it will be way overpriced and will struggle to cross double digit sales per month.

All companies should consider bringing EVs at least through CKD route which will make them eligible for just 15% import duty. With just 5% GST on EVs, the final price will be comparable to petrol/diesel models.

The EQC has some competition coming its way, especially with the infrastructure that Tata will provide. Some can view this as an extremely premium Nexon EV.

Re: JLR to launch hybrids by end-2019, I-Pace EV in 2020

EVs by JLR should certainly help the company as far as reliability is concerned. JLR engines are known to be problematic. With EVs, that issue pretty much goes away. Despite Indian terrains being harsh on the suspension, mechanically, electronic JLRs should be quite strong and sturdy cars. Also, with relatively less frequent maintenance visits for electric cars, I think these beautiful cars would certainly win when compared to other EV vehicles.

If one were to disregard charging feasibility, I would go so far as to say that luxurious electric vehicles would make a lot of sense for rural India since the maintenance visits to service centers would be fewer than that for a luxurious combustion-based vehicle. And I'm guessing that changing rotors, pads and even calipers is something any mechanic can do. Even passive suspension components like non-adaptive coilovers can be easily replaced if need be.

EVs could be really big for us, as long they are exciting to own. If only they could come with vroom boxes
