C'mon:unhappy

Am daydreaming the base variant of the next gen Scorpio at 15-16 lakhs, and here you are suggesting pricing it at 30+. Ssshh...Don't give Mahindra ideas.

While I agree with this, I do think they will move the New Scoprio to XUV segment and the New XUV to straddle current and next segment by stripping down the base model. Given that its Mahindra, they might even continue to sell the existing Scoprio just to ensure that there is an affordable one for the junta.

One thing is for sure. The next gen Scorpio would either be positioned below the next gen XUV500 or alongside it. The next gen XUV500 will be priced at Harrier/Safari levels, not above it. So we can be sure of OTR pricing of 15-20 lakhs.
Hopefully.

Also they shouldn't do that practice of selling two generations side by side. Not cool.

This will be a price difference of around Rs 2L over the current Scorpio. Considering the new feature additions, platform, I think it very well deserves the premium. Also, Scorpio is literally a cult here in Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. People are still buying the old gen. They will pay more very happily.

Now that's more like it.

A small observation. Looks like we have the latest member to the centrally placed brand badge gang. Hope it would be a tasteful execution than a garish Gloster like one. :thumbs up

XUV's and Scropio's on the prowl:

Here are some more images of the next generation Mahindra Scorpio. The new spy images give us a peek into the SUV's interior.

The new Scorpio looks larger and features a completely new front fascia. It has a more upright rear end but retains the side-hinged tailgate. The test car seen here is riding on 10-spoke alloy wheels that are shod with MRF Wanderer tyres.

On the inside, this particular test mule has a black dashboard. The centre console has a similar layout to the XUV300. It features a touchscreen infotainment head-unit with air-conditioner vents on either side and what appears to be a speaker on the top. The vehicle has a flat-bottom steering wheel that is identical to the one seen in the new XUV500 prototypes. Note that this car has a sunroof and is equipped with an automatic transmission.

The Scorpio could be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 158 BHP. The engine is expected to be paired with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission.

From this angle, the new XUV looks very similar to Alcazar, sans the bling. The length, breadth and stance seem to be quite similar too.. Will definitely be a tough fight and with early launch, Hyundai will capture the market, as usual.

The mHawk 2.2 is already BS6 compliant, refined, and puts out 170 BHP.

The person making the scoop is a little bit confused. There will be a 2.0 engine, just that it will not be a diesel. ;)

The scorpio petrol will get a 2.0 petrol, as seen in the thar, albeit in amore powerful state of tune.

Agree, I think there will be one 2.2 Diesel and one 2.0 petrol across all SUVs three M&M SUVs (Thar, Scorpio, XUV700) with three different tunes for each of the Engines - Something like the below:

Thar Petrol 2.0 mStallion : 150 HP, 320 NM
Thar Diesel 2.2 mHawk: 130 HP, 300 NM

Scorpio Petrol 2.0 mStallion: 170 HP, 350 NM
Scorpio Diesel 2.2 mHawk: 150 HP, 330 NM

XUV700 Petrol 2.0 mStallion: 190 HP, 380NM
XUV700 Diesel 2.2 mHawk: 180HP, 360 NM

It should be fairly easy to take the current Thar's engine tune to the same level of output as the XUV700, it would be another matter if the chassis can handle that much power :D

The torque figures from that mStallion engine are literally out of the world. If those are true, M&M surely had made major breakthroughs in their engine department. Is this confirmed ? Even VW's famed 2.0 petrol engine produces only 320 NM torque in Tiguan All space.

How are we sure this is the new Mahindra Scorpio?

Why are they testing the prototype in Tamil Nadu where they don't have a manufacturing facility?

Mahindra's research facilty is in Chennai, so that is possibly reason it is being spotted there.

It matches scorpio character than any of the XUV line of vehicles. Also, in few of the interviews, the senior management have reflected Z101 with Scorpio

The new Thar 2.0 (which is supposed to be the most detuned offering in the range) is living proof the mStallion has all that torque and more. :)

That's why I excluded Thar from the quoted part. Thar has 320nm torque, which is on par with what other 2.0 litre petrol engines produce. My question was about the power figures of the Scorpio and XUV700 which touches almost 380nm torque. That torque numbers are even better than the diesel counterpart.

Even the Thar mStallion has more torque than the diesel. :)

Not much use comparing with the VW 2.0 TSi. Mahindra has clearly prioritized torque with a long stroke configuration. mStallion has 88mm*76mm bore*stroke as compared to 82.5mm*92.8mm for the Tiguan allspace.

The Mahindra is quite unlikely to be revv-happy and will be best driven in this torquey midrange, similar to a diesel.

As far as I know 2.0 mStallion from Mahindra has 2 tunes for power - 150hp/180hp(not sure about Torque figures though)

Mahindra is unfortunate for this extreme delay in launch with lot of prospects shifting to Tata Or Koreans. By the time they actually launch it, the competition will up the game.

Why is At plus Awd combination removed from the existing xuv500 and scorpio?

Eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the new Scorpio and the XUV700. I think the New Scorpio will slot into the XUV500 market and the new XUV700 will slot in somewhere between the erstwhile XUV500-Alturas range. The upcoming Thar 5-door will bridge the gap between the 2-door Thar and New Scorpio's market, and possibly overlap the New Scorpio too.

I wonder if Mahindra will be kind enough to consider giving 4WD / AWD versions on the New Scorpio , XUV700.

As per various news article shared on the forum quoting different sources, both Scorpio and XUV700 are expected to get AWD.

Also, it would be amazing if they provide a Diesel AT + 4WD on the new Scorpio as well(as seen on XUV500 and the new Thar). The revamp of Scorpio's interiors, adding new features such as sunroof etc and a solid GNCAP rating will make it a mouthwatering choice in the segment.
