Both, the X7 SUV and the 7-Series share the same CLAR platform. The X7 is positioned at the top of BMW's SUV line up. In India, it is likely to be offered in three variants - xDrive40i, xDrive30d and M50d.

The xDrive40i is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 335 BHP @ 5,500-6,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque @ 1,500-5,200 rpm. The xDrive30d packs a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 265 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 620 Nm @ 2,000 rpm, while the top-spec M50d is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel that makes 394 BHP @ 4,400 rpm and 760 Nm of torque @ 2,000-3,000 rpm. All variants are expected to come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

The 7-Series facelift features a new twin kidney grille that is larger than the outgoing model. It gets new headlights and tail lights with an LED light bar at the back. It is rumoured that BMW will offer the 7-Series in the 745Le plug-in hybrid variant, which comes with a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 282 BHP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque @ 1,500-3,500 rpm. A 12 kWh battery pack powers the electric motor, which adds another 111 BHP and 265 Nm of torque.

Re: BMW X7, 7-Series facelift launch on July 25, 2019

Good move by BMW to launch both the X7 and 7 LCI together, this is a cost effective way to do it as the TG is similar in both -HNI and UHNIs. Showcasing both together has good merit.

I hope the new management at BMW keep a keen eye on pricing. At a time where car sales are at a record low, a high sticker price is going to hurt. This is an ideal time to bring out price corrections but I think that's wishful thinking. Having a high sticker price and then leaving room for heavy discounting is the strategy that most car makers in this segment use, but when it's a new launch the discounts will be nil and hence the sales will be near nil too.

It's a good time to get the current 7er, some might argue it's better looking too! I believe discounted ex-showroom price was already below 1cr, now with this launch can we expect it to be below 90L? That would be a good damn deal for the 7.
