Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

I wonder if there will be enough headroom even in the second row. The hump between the C pillars is substantial and seems to be in line with the backrest. Even the Compass barely has enough for me.

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

I really do it understand this “Swift to Dzire” mindset and OEM heard mentality.
Ertiga/DatsunGo+/Safari/Alcazar/Carens/Hector plus/XUV700 and now Meridian, almost non usable third row of seats.
To say it’s “Best suited for children and adults for short ride” is just trying to justify the existence.
Instead they could have just added usable space and saved money on the seats or have a concept in which you can add or remove seats as per need.

For all the hype that it has generated, I hope that the Meridian is not plagued with the same cronic issue as its smaller sibling - the infamous rattles! Only time will tell

You got that right. I don’t think they fixed their rattling issues. Even after years of selling Compass if they are unable to fix the rattling issue, how could they have fixed it with Meridian? I think it’s their attitude. Fanboys will anyways buy at any price point is their line of thinking.

Is it too much to deliver a premium car without rattling noise? I don’t think so.

Btw.. I own a 2021 compass model S 4x4. There you go. One frustrated owner talking 😭

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

The interiors already look dated IMO. The rear end design of the car feels rushed and out of place.

The engine specs are a huge let down and I do not see why would anyone want to pay 6-7 lacs more for this than the compass just for additional luggage space :P

Kodiaq is CLEAR!!

Wowww. One thing I hate in any car is the rattle... Is Jeep known for it?

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

No car is perfect and its reasonable to expect certain degree of quality as per price point. Rattling has been an issue for some which should have been sorted. However, the Compass (and its extension, Meridian) does not have any mechanical issues and is a very well engineered car. It boils down to compromise one is ready to make in exchange of what they are getting.

The variants with sunroofs are known for rattles. My 2019 Limited variant did not have any rattles.

What I hear is that there is a propensity in many of the 2021 update variants to develop dashboard and door pad rattles too. Sometimes Jeep ASC has been partially successful at fixing them.

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Reviews have started to trickle in, it seems a mixed bag. As expected, compromises are to be made.

- Looks proper premium and expensive vehicle
- The last row is only suitable for teens or adults up to 5.6-inch height (as if we did not know that)
- The gear shift is still slow, takes 0.5 sec to respond
- Not wide enough footwell as the center console nudges against the knee/ankle when resting foot on the dead pedal
- Relatively firm ride quality in low speed
- Good road manners/feels planted at high speed
- Although power is the same, the power delivery is recalibrated to make it more linear

Being a new car no word on rattles, thank goodness for that but only time would tell if the relief is short-lived, fingers crossed.

I plan to test the ride when available and decide if the compromises are palatable.

P.S. The first video it seems has been made private but I would keep the link for reference.
