The BMW M8 Coupe has been spotted testing in India.



The BMW M8 is the high performance version of the 8 Series. It features a revised front bumper with larger vents and twin-pod LED headlights. At the rear, the car has slim, wraparound tail lights and quad exhaust tips. The M8 also gets a carbon fiber roof and larger wheels. The test mule seen here is fitted with exhaust emission testing apparatus.



The M8 is powered by a 4.4-litre, V8 engine that delivers 592 BHP and 750 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. BMW claims that the M8 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The top speed can be raised to 305 km/h with the M Driver's Package. In Competition spec, the M8 has 617 BHP and 750 Nm of torque.

The BMW M8 Coupe has started reaching dealerships in India, spy shots have revealed. BMW will likely launch the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe rival in the country very soon.

The BMW M8 Coupe, be it in the regular form or the more brutal Competition guise, will cost easily over INR 2 crore (ex-showroom). The Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe, for reference, is priced at INR 2.60 crore (ex-showroom).

Flagship BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe India Launch On May 8 - Link

Just over a week ago, BMW introduced the 8 Series Gran Coupe in Malaysia and now the official date on its India launch is out. The flagship model will go on sale on May 8 and it could be brought in as a fully-loaded single specification, as in Malaysia. The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe uses a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged engine in its 840i M Sport trim.

• BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe uses a 3.0-litre straight-six turbocharged petrol engine developing 335 horsepower and 500 Nm torque. It is paired with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission that transfers power to only the rear axle.

• The 8 Series Gran Coupe is claimed capable of reaching zero to 100 kmph in 5.2 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 kmph.

• The five-meter long, four-door coupe is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.4 crore (ex-showroom) and its launch could be followed by the debut of the M8 Competition on digital platform.

Glad to see BMW back in action. The M8 looks yummy although the long wheelbase and low GC will ensure beaching on Bangalore speedbreakers.

For the experts: is this the same ZF8 gearbox as used in multiple BMW cars or a different one?

The ZF unit is a 8 speed one but a different variant is on offer here, i think that may be to handle the high power and torque figures for this car. The ZF variant is 8HP76 while cars like F30 LCI are employed with 8HP50. This info is from wikipedia so i hope this is correct.

Four-Door Gran Coupe should be around 1,20 Cr. but it is barebones. And you can order options for maximum 10-15 lac. As per my info, even CarPlay is an extra option (50K) or 4 Zone A/C (1,95L)

M8 should be around 2,25 Cr and you can order most options, but these costs a lot.

Both will be useless. I don't expect 3 digit Yearly sales unless they go aggressive on the prices because of Covid.

Gran Coupe should have the regular that duties on other other 6 cylinder engines. M8 will have similar to the M5. It's a different unit to take higher torque.
