During highway drives:
The fuel gauge: only if the level gets to below three points, regular glances.
The speedometer: frequent glances when cruising, to keep within limits.

Both city and highway drives:
The warning lamps: once in a while.

Odometer, trip meter etc: only before or after the trip.

Re: How often do you check the instrument cluster/MID while driving?

I often look at speed, RPM and temperature. I have a habit of filling up fuel tank as soon as it goes to half capacity. So I don’t check fuel tank level during the drive.

Re: How often do you check the instrument cluster/MID while driving?

I have a different issue.
I have to consciously tell myself not to look at the instrument cluster too often. If unchecked, i have a tendency to look at the gauges every 5 or so minutes, whether in the car or on a bike...

Re: How often do you check the instrument cluster/MID while driving?

It helps immensely to have a simplified, clean cluster design, so one can notice anything amiss in their peripheral vision (usually in the process of glancing at the three RVMs), instead of being distracted every few minutes.

Anything that needs active attention to decipher is taking away your attention from the road for crucial second(s) and are a safety hazard more than a helpful notification.

Re: How often do you check the instrument cluster/MID while driving?

It is an OCD of mine to look every 3 to 5 minutes for no specific reason.

RPM and speed mostly checked. Fuel sometimes. The times i don't see I end up going faster.

Re: How often do you check the instrument cluster/MID while driving?

For the Suzuki Ritz, the instrument cluster is separated.
The engine tachometer is located on top of the dashboard than the speedometer.

For the most part, I check the tachometer and speedometer often and the fuel level indicator when I start the engine.
