Mahindra S204 (7-Seater XUV3OO) could be named XUV4OO / XUV3OO Plus

Mahindra S204 (7-Seater XUV3OO) launch confirmed to European media via the mid-term road map, to bring the XUV300 based 7-seater SUV code named as S204 and could get production name as XUV4OO / XUV3OO Plus.

Mahindra S204 (7-Seater XUV3OO) could be named XUV4OO / XUV3OO Plus-mahindraupcominglineup.jpg

The 7-seater XUV 400 will slot above the XUV3OO and below the XUV5OO.

Quote:
The Mahindra XUV400 will most likely carry forward the XUV300’s design, but the possibility of it sharing the design with the SsangYong Tivoli Air (SsangYong Tivoli XLV) is also high. The image in the presentation by Mahindra for its roadmap is of the latter, which is a longer version of the SsangYong Tivoli. The SsangYong Tivoli Air measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. While the wheelbase is the same as that of the SsangYong Tivoli, it has an extended rear overhang for additional luggage space, but not the extra row of seats. For XUV400 though, this will be used for third row of seats.

Likely be launched in India sometime in later part of 2020 or early 2021.

Where does this leave the Marazzo? Too much overlap between several products with little standardization between parts. Looks like a disaster recipe for the overall supply chain

I always felt XUV3oo looked a bit short off length, somehow the current looks are not perfectly proportioned. I hope the 7 seater will make it look a stunner as against the blunt Tuv 3oo + and MPVish Marazzo

If the above render is anything to go by, it looks amazingly hot ! BR - V, XL6, Marazzo better watch out !

Mahindra is a big fan of Steve Job's Quote - "If you don't cannibalize yourself, someone else will." and I think it is working for them !

Mahindra's S204 spied on tests in India,

Quote:
S204 will be the Indianised version of the Ssangyong XLV and will get styling, feature and powertrain upgrades for the Indian market.

The SsangYong XLV is spawned on the stretched Tivoli platform which will also underpin the S204. Though, very limited information about its specifications, it is likely to get the same 1.5-litre diesel engine which powers the Mahindra XUV300 and Marazzo. According to news reports, Mahindra will also introduce a 1.5-litre turbo T-GDI petrol engine with the S204 which will also make its way in the Marazzo.

Does the reference of GDI really stand for Gasoline-Direct-Injection? The power/torque figures of the XUV300's motor does suggest so (being higher that of the VW 1.2 TSI on both counts)

The rear looks much more in proportion compared to the XUV 300. Maybe the third row of seats do not have the same amount of space as the Marazzo and is to be used only for children/short children. This is to prevent cannibalization of the Marazzo. If it based on the SsangYong Tivoli Air, why not just re-badge it and sell it with an extra row of seats?

For me, it looks like an XUV-500 face-lift. The body panels of bonnet, side profile, etc are that of XUV-500, and not of XUV-300.

I somehow feel Indian companies should get over their obsession with 7 seaters . It’s always a design/ ergonomic/ safety compromise. Also, there’s too much product overlap for Mahindra as suggested, and doesn’t serve purpose unless the likes of Scorpio/ Bolero are being replaced. The XUV 300 is Mahindras most decent “small” product till date. They should not compromise on the potential.

Saw this car in flesh today, Dimensions look much bigger than even Creta if my eyes were not playing tricks on me! Quite bulky just like most Mahindra cars.

Had a glance of the interior, speedo was similar to the one on the Marazzo, rest were kept hidden.

I think cannibalization is not bad for Mahindra. If someone enters Mahindra showroom and finds 6-8 UVs then there's a chance they will like something and Salesman would be able to sell that. If you don't cannibalize yourself, someone else will.

I don't think they will replace Scorpio / Bolero as these cars are still selling in decent numbers even after 2 decades. WIth BS6 norms coming up next year, they would have to upgrade these products.

XUV 400 SRK Rendering.

After the XUV 300 launch. Now, Mahindra working on its 7-seat version (codename: S204) that is said to be named XUV400. The company has started testing the stretched version on the roads and using the details revealed by the test mule sightings,

7 seater XUV300 is a good idea. I think the new generation XUV500 will move up the segment ladder. With Buzzard/Cassini on the horizon, new-gen XUV500 will be taking them on in the 20-25 lakh SUV bracket. And the seven-seater XUV300 may take the place of current XUV500.

Looks good. They should remove the character line that curves forward from the rear on the side panel.

I think people might be interested in 7 seaters which can provide a lot of luggage space with 3rd row folded (should be flat folding to floor) The last row might not be that important. Its just a feeling of having a 3 row even if its not suitable for adults in that row.
