Mahindra Renault set to choose Chennai for Logan

As per incoming sources, Mahindra-Renault has more or less decided on picking up Chennai for setting up a Greenfield manufacturing facility.
This upcoming facility is expected to start rolling out cars by 2009 in the Indian market. The two companies are planning to launch diesel and petrol variants of mid-sized sedan Logan in the country.
The car is expected to be launched in India within the next couple of months.
Sources claim that their upcoming manufacturing plant would have an initial capacity of three lakh vehicles per year. The two companies are also planning to setup a power train unit but it is not clear if this will also be housed in Chennai.
Renault Logan would take on existing models in the market including Maruti Esteem, Chevrolet Aveo, Ford Ikon and Fiesta, Tata Indigo, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Experts claim that the company would make available as many as 3 engine options and 11 variants of this car in India.
More power to the Indian customer!
