Skoda To Discontinue 1.5-litre Diesel in BS6 Era

The inevitable has been revealed.

Skoda To Discontinue 1.5-litre Diesel In BS6 Era.

-The Rapid will get a new 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine with manual and DSG automatic transmission options.

- VW too will replicate the same power-train options post BS6

- Skoda plans to enter the BS6 phase with a line of petrol engines and maybe a CNG option too

- The larger 2.0-litre diesel units that power the likes of the Superb and Kodiaq will get a BS6 update in due course

-This smaller turbo-petrol unit could also replace the 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor

- Expect the Ameo to be phased out of the product line.

Re: Skoda in control of VW's product development for India; car based on MQB-A0-IN platform coming s

So no Ciaz diesel, no Skoda Rapid (and I assume VW Vento) diesels, and no Yaris diesel. The City and Verna are going to have a field day! And between these two engines, the Verna diesel is miles ahead, figuratively speaking. Anyone wanting a good diesel in this segment, will have only the Verna to choose from.

Customers prefer Petrol variants in Ciaz and City, while Verna has an equal split in preference.
So the chart might not skew drastically if Vento and Rapid retain their USP in the 1.0L TSI engine.

They should not do this as more percentage of sales is for the diesel version, they should consider making the fantastic 1.5L diesel BS6.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India To Go Petrol-Only In BS6 Era

The brand might bring back diesel models if demand persists in the future.

Skoda Superb on test,

-The existing 1.5-litre TDI, 2.0-litre TDI and 3.0-litre TDI engines will face the axe.

- Skoda and VW are offering heavy discounts to clear diesel model inventory.

- Diesel-only models, Tiguan and Kodiaq, will come with a new petrol engine.

- VW Group could bring back diesel variants in case of healthy demand in the BS6 era.

Quote:
the 1.5-litre TDI engine in the Rapid and Vento will be traded in for the BS6-compliant 1.0-litre TSI engine that’s likely to develop 115PS.
Quote:
the facelifted Skoda Superb will come with a powerful 2.0-litre TSI engine that’ll replace the existing 1.8-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI engine. Even Audi India has reported that it will launch petrol and electric models in the country in the BS6 era. For reference, the recently launched A6 and the upcoming Q8 don’t have a diesel variant.
