The first one could be a 2.0-litre diesel mild-hybrid producing 178 BHP and 430 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre petrol mild-hybrid that makes 246 BHP and 365 Nm of torque. Re: Rumour: 2nd-Gen Range Rover Evoque India launch in February 2020

Finally! The outgoing Evoque is a Freelander 2 under the skin, which means mechanically, it is FOURTEEN years old. Just to put things in perspective, we have seen 3 different generations of a common car like the Swift, or a luxury car like the C-Class, in this same time frame.

Some parts of Jaguar-Land Rover are so outdated. The decade-old XJ is another example.

Auto companies are out to play very expensive game of spot the difference with Auto enthusiast. There was a time I could identify cars just with a glimpse, not anymore, not anymore.

+1 to that sir. The extremely dated D8 platform dates back to Ford ownership of JLR, who successfully maximised the usage of this platform named EUCD by Ford. Even the S60, S80 and their derivatives used this platform. I really how that the rumours of the sub £25000 Land Rover does not use this platform. One thing that cannot be argued is how solid this platform was. It stood the test of time.

The XJ is a beauty, thankfully it's production has finally concluded. I believe it's electric-only replacement is coming next year.

A little birdy informed me both - the Discovery Sport FL & the new Evoque is set to launch sometime in January. With the amount of time JLR takes to get their new products to India this development is a very positive sign as per standards, looks like 2020 will be a good year for JLR in India...just hope they offer right trims this time

I saw the second gen Evoque at the Dubai Motor Show this year and it is leaps and bounds ahead of the older one. Interiors are classy and rich too. Of course the Middle East gets top specs but just hope India gets good trim levels. The Discovery Sport facelift was also there on the JLR stall but couldn't get a video of that one

Here's the Evoque video from the show

Jaguar Land Rover India has launched the second generation Range Rover Evoque in the country with prices starting at ₹ 54.94 lakh (ex-showroom, India). There will be two variants on offer S and SE. The all-new offering builds on the popularity of the current version and sports new tech, new engine options and a new design language as well. The new Evoque is based on the Premium Transverse Architecture. The SUV is being offered in six color options along with lane keep assist, park assist and LED headlamps. The design language is similar to the Velar with simpler lines, a sleek appearance and better proportions.

The 2020 Range Rover Evoque gets the same BS6 compliant 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol and diesel engines that power the Jaguar XE that was launched in December 2019. In the XE, the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine makes 247 bhp and a peak torque output of 365 Nm of peak torque., The diesel version belts out 178 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The SUV is larger than its predecessor with the cargo space now accommodating six per cent more with 610 liters available. The boot can be further expanded to 1430 liters with the second row folded.

Inside, the new Evoque comes an uncluttered design language. It gets new Kvadrat wool blend and Dinamica suede cloth, as well as a Eucalyptus Textile and Ultrafabrics use recycled plastics and natural materials. There's the new twin touchscreen, InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, featuring new, faster software, 16-way seat controls, and cabin air ionization. The new Range Rover Evoque is also the first vehicle to feature 'ClearSight Ground View' technology, which is designed to allow the driver to virtually see through the hood and under the front end of the vehicle by projecting a 180-degree view of the ground onto the vehicle's upper touchscreen.

Land Rover introduces plug-in hybrid technology for the Evoque and Discovery Sport.

Land Rover has just showcased the plug-in hybrid variants for the Discovery Sport as well as the Range Rover Evoque, both of which are slated to go on sale in the European markets. This hybrid system offers short-range electric-only mode and has a petrol motor to extend the range of the car.The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models will be named P300e in their line ups.Powering both the P300e is an all-new turbocharged 1.5-litre Ingenium petrol engine with a output of 200bhp. An additional 108bhp electric motor is mounted on the rear axle.

The motor is linked to a battery pack and the combined output of this system is approximately 300bhp and 540Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The electric-only mode for the Range Rover Evoque gets up to 66km whereas on the Discovery Sport it is just 61km due to its larger size. Performance wise, both these cars are no slouches, delivering 0-100 figures of 6.1 seconds for the Evoque and 6.2 seconds for the*Discovery Sport. The cars can hit a top speed of 135kmph in electric mode only. Once the cars hit higher speeds, the electric motor stops to make the cars front-wheel-drive only. Land Rover has added three driving modes the first default driving mode be the HYBRID mode uses both the petrol and electric power units to deliver an optimised performance to the driver , second there is a Electric Vehicle mode that allows the SUV to run purely on electric power ideal for city use and lastly Land Rover has added a SAVE mode that uses the combustion engine as the main power source to help keep the batteries at an optimum charge level.

Now coming to the batteries of these SUVs, they can be charged from a regular socket which takes up to six hours to top up. There's also the provision for a 7kW AC wall socket, which can take the battery from 0 to 80 per cent charge in just 1 hour 24 minutes. Lastly, through DC fast charging, 0 to 80 per cent can be achieved in just 30 minutes. All of this energy is stored in a Samsung-sourced 15kWh battery pack

There's been no official word from Land Rover about when these cars will be offered in India, but as per the JLR product pipeline, there is an electric car headed our way in the form of the Jaguar I-Pace, scheduled to come out this year. There aren't too many plug in hybrid cars in India but these two SUV's will be a great addition to the current Land Rover portfolio, when it comes to providing cleaner emissions and lower running costs.

What were the technical differences in the Petrol Engine of the old Evoque (facelift) petrol which produced 240 PS & 340NM vs the one in the new model producing 247 PS & 365 NM ?

I think both are Ingenium motors ?
