According to a media report, the Hyundai Verna is likely to get a BS6 engine sometime before the 2020 Auto Expo.

Rumour: Hyundai Verna BS6 launch in early 2020-2017hyundaiverna06.jpg

The Verna is expected to get the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that powers the Kia Seltos. This BS6 compliant unit is likely to produce 114 BHP and 144 Nm of torque and could be offered with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The current crop of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines that power the Verna are expected to be discontinued.

The report suggests that a BS6 compliant diesel engine is likely to be introduced in the Verna after April 2020 when the BS6 emission norms come into effect. The diesel version could use the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the Seltos. Before that, the Verna is expected to get a facelift in March 2020.
