It seems that the facelift Tiago would be missing out on projector headlamps that were recently introduced on the XZ+ variant. Who removes features that were already present! and that too major ones

You'd be surprised at how adept Tata is now at deleting features. The Hexa's Team-Bhp reviewers asked Tata to go on diet, that's how they have reacted since then I guess Tata is thinking that either ways we wouldn't be moving Maruti/Hyundai number of units, so better milk the cash out of the limited ones we move out.

Is it just me or does completely ditching diesel on the Tiago and Tigor seem like a knee jerk reaction? That too when petrol (non JTP) isn't really Tata's forte in either of these cars.

The Nexon facelift looks handsome. Would have been great if they toned down the funky rear to be a bit understated.

What are they claiming about being first to introduce their entire portfolio of BS6 at once? Where is the Harrier, their current flagship? And if i recall, its Maruti whose entire portfolio is BS6 ready already.

Should be mostly you. News of Tata going to discontinue diesel offerings from Tiago and Tigor were out almost a year back. 10 months is too long for a knee to jerk

Our very own Team-BHP news link dated 5th Match, 2019.

And yes, sad Tata has deleted projector headlamps from Tiago while retaining it in Tigor. May be for better product differentiation. The new Nexon does look quite smashing. In fact, more matured now. Am also very eager to see how much the new yellow color in Tiago moves off the shelves. Last remember Indica Vista and Skoda Laura vRS in similar colors.

With this announced, the only question that remains is the future of the current JTP twins. Being in a niche segment, it is very difficult to get significant returns by upgrading (tweaked Nexon engine but the tune needs to be tested again). However, most of the vehicle (barring the suspension, I guess) is from the existing Tata parts bin. Let's just hope they manage to make it work somehow.

The press release quotes that these new cars are based on Impact 2.0 design language. Does this mean these are all built on ALFA platform of Altroz? If not, what is the difference between Impact 2.0 design language and ALFA?

Re: Tata Motors opens bookings for its BS-VI passenger vehicles range

The entire line up looks very matured and grown up now. The Nexon in particular looks very upmarket, That combined with a 5 star safety rating makes the nexon a very compelling buy

The only issue I can think off is the pricing - They have already increased the prices in the month of Jan, now if they further increase the price with a huge margin owing to BS 6 they might not find many takers. Especially the Tiago twins.

Nexon still looks very competitive - Thanks to Xuv 3oo and venue

Tiago in Yellow looks awesome in pictures , hope it have the projector too, at least in the top spec.
The refreshed front grill with Lamborghini inspired design pattern also looks nice. And the Nexon face lift is one of the best face lift in recent times . Not very radical changes, but enough to make it look more matured

Re: Tata Motors opens bookings for its BS-VI passenger vehicles range

The entire range looks great now. The new colours are also quite refreshing. I think with price hikes happening all around the industry and their own initial niggles sorted out, Tata will be able to pull off the rumoured price hikes too.

With the updated Harrier and new launch of Altroz and Gravitas coming soon Tata sure seems to be very much in the game. If the rumours of Gravitas and Harrier having auto options from now are true, it got to be the best phase for Tata in the Indian market. The only missing part is the Altroz auto option. If the DCT in that comes later this year, it definitely will be exciting times, both for customers and the company

Re: Tata Motors opens bookings for its BS-VI passenger vehicles range

Tata, I fail to understand your "family" look thing! The Altroz look "theme" was just showcased/launched, why to slap it across the range even before your valued customers got behind the wheel?

I think Altroz should have been given some free run on its own, a premium hatchback with a unique look! Now a segment below car from the same stable looks similar. I think Tata could have delayed the tiago/tigor face-lifts.

Good decision in a way because the facelifted Tiago would have looked exactly like an Altroz with those projector headlamps present.

I am liking the Tiago facelift - but probably TATA should have waited a few months till the Altroz gained traction in the market, before introducing this facelift.

Nope. Sorry. It's just you. They announced long ago that upgrading the small diesel engines to BS6 is too costly to justify it. There just wouldn't be enough volumes to justify the money spent in R&D. Besides, it's not just Tata - quite a few manufacturers are not upgrading small capacity diesel engines to BS6.

Tata Motors today, announced the bookings open of its completely refreshed product portfolio, which will consist of the BS-VI models of the Tiago, Tigor, and the Nexon.
That shade in Nexon looks smashing! Must say very UNIQUE and risque attempt by Tata. From the 1st orange Tiago, then the darker orange Tiago and Nexon to this Yellow. Interesting journey. Quite fresh. Most importantly good to see updates and bold attempts throughout the portfolio. The mid-cycle refresh Tigor Blue shade was lovely too.

ALFA Arc is the PLATFORM. Impact 2.0 is a design language / philosophy. Both very different things.
ALFA Arc is the new platform which is ready for EVs as well. Altroz is the first product based on it. Hornbill (H2X) is next. It is the chassis and all the associated components surrounding it made in a modular fashion. One can't just take an existing 'body' like Tiago and fit on a new 'platform'.
(Breaking it down in a very superficial level).
Impact Design started with Tiago, Tigor and Nexon (not Hexa). 2.0 of that was Harrier and now the same is progressing to the Tiago, Tigor and Nexon. Prima facie the 'slim' headlamps, more aggressive bumpers the small changes in design on the grille - you can find more about this in videos and tweets by Pratap Bose.
It's heartening to see a homegrown manufacturer finally have a fresh and contemporary design language - way better than just 'christmas tree lights' from Indica to Marina... and more welcome that Cheetah and Shark.

P.S. I am shocked to see the Tiago without projector headlamps! The outgoing model had them. I hope better sense prevails. It would in fact make MORE sense for Tata to use the Tigor headlamps on Tiago. I guess they want to still try and make the Tigor feel a notch higher than the Tiago. Guess we will have to continue doing swaps like these (Tata Tiago : Official Review).
