Finally, it's going to happen. Expect launch around February end / March at a price of around 68-70 Lac. It will be at a premium over the existing model. As of now, there is no information about the features but going by past launch and expected price, it should be fully loaded.

Dealers can book one for you with a deposit of Rs 5 Lac.

No announcement yet but you can ask local dealership. As of now, 2 Doors are not being planned though lower trim Sahara might come.

You can fit 33s on any Wrangler JL without any mods. (Stock tires are 32s)
You can fit 35s on a Rubicon without any mods (the stock tires are 33s in the US)

The problem is that it's damn near impossible to find 33s let alone 35s in India. They need to be imported and most tire shops won't even import them for you. Shipping and customs are ridiculous for tires that size and weight.

You do have 33"s and 35"s. You just need to search harder. Tyre shops never have it, FB Pages selling 4x4 stuff have them in stock. But, these last couple of years its getting harder to get them.

Looks like we've got some more signs validating this news -

These pics were posted at the FCA Jeep event - Camp Jeep in Hyderabad over the weekend. Jeep brought over a Wrangler Rubicon and kept it on display for everyone at the event. This is the real deal alright, a RHD Rubicon with all the bells and whistles!

As you can see, it's a Euro spec Rubicon (almost the exact same as the UK model). It comes with 32 inch BFG KM2 Mud Terrain tires, a red dashboard, black fender flares and probably beefed up axles and suspension. You can even see the switch gear for the sway bar disconnect and lockers if you look close enough. We still get the Euro bumpers with this one too.

I just got some news from the dealer. Bookings are open for the Rubicon!

Apparently priced at 65 Lakhs Ex-showroom! Sounds like a very reasonable premium over the base model (Sahara) which is 62.

What you get vs the base (Sahara):

Front and rear locking diffs
Electronic sway bar disconnect
32 in BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires (Sahara gets 32 in Bridgestone Dueler H/T)
Stiffer Rubicon suspension
Black wheel arches (Sahara gets body colored arches)
Red metal dashboard (Sahara gets black leather dash)
Rock Trac 4x4 drivetrain with - 4H part time, 4L at 4:1 crawl ratio
(Sahara gets the Selec Trac 4x4 drivetrain with - 4H Auto with LSD, 4H part time, 4L at 2.7:1 crawl ratio)

This spec would definitely appeal to hardcore offroaders who really want to push the limits of their vehicle. It's great that customers have more choices now.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to be launched in March, priced around INR 72 lakh.

FCA will kickstart 2020 in India with the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. IndianAutosBlog.com can confirm that the company plans to launch the new SUV in the country in March and price it around INR 72 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will be available in only the 5-door version in India.

IndianAutosBlog.com can confirm that there’s still no plan to offer the Jeep Wrangler with the 3.6-litre diesel engine in India. So, the Rubicon trim would be launched with the 2.0-litre petrol engine (and the 8-speed automatic transmission). For our market, the maximum power of this engine has been detuned to 268 HP, but the maximum torque is the same - 400 Nm.

Wow what splendid news indeed! I hope the mods can get a test drive or first impressions for this beast. It would certainly be a very exciting and refreshing vehicle review to read through, in our Indian context.

I am sure this will be a showstopper in our market, but I wish the pricing was more affordable. I will unfortunately have to wait for the Jimney myself. It would be a blast to go on adventures in any of these new breed of offroaders that our country is lucky enough to get. The Defender is coming soon as well to add to that lineup.

Hoping some members can shed some light on this behemoth or have any test drive impressions to share!

Looks like there's already a review in. I'm surprised Jeep managed to sell as many Wranglers as claimed in the article since launch. I've only managed to see one JL parked in Bangalore so far.

FCA launches Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in India, priced at Rs 68.94 lakh.

FCA says that like all Wrangler models across the world, the Rubicon is trail-rated with a badge indicating that the vehicle is designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions.

New Delhi: FCA has launched the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon SUV in India at a price of Rs 68.94 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Delivery for the five-door SUV will commence on March 15, 2020.

As FCA claims, it has already received several pre-orders for the SUV. The SUV comes carrying Wrangler's signature design and it gets 4x4 drivetrain as well. It also gets Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Commenting on the launch, Partha Datta – President and Managing Director, FCA India, said, “Discerning Indian customers generally know what they want to purchase next and there are many who have waited to own the most recognised vehicle in the world. The Wrangler Rubicon has caught the attention of many such connoisseurs who know their Jeep well."

He also said, "We already have an unprecedented order bank of eager customers ready to purchase our iconic off-roader. We are poised to complete delivery of our entire Rubicon import shipment to customers sooner than anticipated. Jeep Wrangler has been a really successful flagship product for us in India and it commands almost 67% our India CBU sales, since its launch in 2016.”

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon comes powered by a four-cylinder, DOHC, inline, turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that churns out 271 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is clubbed with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
