Which 17 inch wheels would the India spec Karoq get?I generally find the Karoq's alloy options very boring except the ones on the sportline.Hope they do price it really competitively..

Skoda Karoq SUV India Launch On May 6th.

As per the showroom SA, they are expecting it to be priced at about 27 on road. It looks at least a couple of lakhs more than what most people are expecting.

I would've loved to see Karoq coming in a 2.0 L diesel avatar mated to 7 speed DSG too , at least as a premium offering alongside the 1.5 TSI.

Skoda is surely testing the waters through the CBU route and hence at this moment this car would be expensive to buy and maintain(owing to lack of localisation of parts). Compass, CR-V and Tucson are the nearest rivals in terms of price. I feel there would be many takers for this car and Skoda wouldn't sweat to touch the 2500 units mark and may be look to start local production next year. If that happens , it's a safe buy besides the advantage of having a 'fully' German car.

Being a SKoda, quality is rest assured and whether it will fit the bill in the present scheme of things remains to be seen.

Now counting days for the official t-bhp review :)

Excited about the Karoq and will seriously consider buying it depending on specs and pricing. However, barely any information has been released that wasn't already known.

For a brand new model with no prior history in India there is NO way I will put down 50K based on a website. I plan to see the car, TD and then decide.

PLUS:
Petrol 1.5 TSI engine ( for urban driving), DSG, highly rated globally , latest UK/Europe model, 9 airbags ( even top end UK edition has 8 i think), virtual cockpit.

Unsure:
Precious little info has been released so far, Varioflex unlikely, smaller than Tiguan

I will wait, watch, test drive and decide but am excited so farclap:

Could this be considered for the highway runs or is the FE going to be a deterrent? Would love to buy this car is priced about 23-25 on road.

Wonder how a potential customer would choose between the Karoq and the T-Roc given their identical mechanicals and similar (almost) size.

Interesting to see how VAG positions the Karoq above the T-Roc, contrary to global trend of Skoda being a value alternative to an equivalent VW

I think it's purely the size behind the higher pricing of the Karoq. While they'll still follow the same trend of Skoda as the cheaper sibling, this caters to the mentality that 'big car = expensive'. The Karoq is marketed as a cheaper 5-seater Tiguan alternative, while the Kodiaq is the cheaper Touareg alternative.

VW branded cars are always priced a segment higher as compared to the equivalent Skoda. So it makes sense to price it at 26-28L (almost value for money considering that the only other options at that price are mid-spec Tuscon and Compass).

Skoda Karoq is surprisingly light vehicle at around 1300 kg for the size (which is just 100 kg more than i20 Ellite. T-Roc (which is a shade smaller) appears to be 1400 kg and I wonder if this is because of some additional strengthening.
FE may not be bad.

Are you sure you’re comparing the wet weights of all these vehicles? 1300 and 1400 for the Karoq and T-Roc seems very light

These are the curb weights I googled on net and the Indian versions may be slightly different.
This site mentions just 1230 kg for T-Roc and 1290 kg for Karoq

Delivery of the Karoq will commence on 6th May.

Seems like a more rounded package than the VW T-Roc. Looks to be taller (over 1600 mm), longer (by almost 150mm) and having higher ground clearance (172mm versus around 160mm on T-Roc).

It also gets more airbags, virtual cockpit, and many nifty skoda touches such as extra storage spaces etc.

If Skoda manages to price it very close to the T-Roc (say 20.99 ex-showroom), this could be a winner. In general, I would expect new car launches in the coming month or two to be mouth-wateringly priced, thanks to COVID induces belt tightening by consumers.

It'll probably be 23-24L ex-showroom. Autocar expects it to be 24L so it would be roughly 27-28 on road. Think of it as an Octavia SUV. The figures seem to make sense since that'll position the Karoq equivalent to the top-spec Compass (non-trailhawk). Highly unlikely that they'll launch it at just 21L considering the specs it offers.
