Volvo India to sell BS6 cars at BS4 prices until 31st March 2020

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Swedish luxury car manufacturer Volvo cars India today said that it will not pass BS-VI technology cost to customers. This is quite contrary to other luxury car makers who have announced a price hike of three per cent to four per cent due to the rising input cost of BS-VI technology.

However, the luxury car manufacturer said, “As a gesture to our customers owning an environment-friendly BS-VI Volvo Car this financial year, we do not have any price increase for our BS-VI certified cars till 31st March 2020,” said Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Car India.
Volvo Cars India currently sells XC40, XC60, XC90, S60, S60 Cross Country, S90 and V90 Cross Country.

Re: Volvo India to sell BS6 cars at BS4 prices until 31st March 2020

Easy for Volvo to do it because the margins are big in the luxury car segment, and customers there are less price sensitive. Would be challenging for brands in the <10-lakh rupee mass market categories.

Still, an excellent customer-friendly move that will also bring PR benefits. Reminds me of how Kia brought in the BS6 Seltos at a great price.

This is actually a pretty nice initiative. While other manufacturers are heavily discounting BS4 cars and trying to clear stock for BS6 at higher price tag, Volvo has gotten BS6 cars and are letting buyers buy it at BS4 prices.

This is something that brands like Jeep should have followed for Compass. Would have managed a big chunk of sales till March atleast.

Re: Volvo India to sell BS6 cars at BS4 prices until 31st March 2020

Volvo, a Chinese brand has announced that it will switch over to all electric powertrains in 2 years, which means all those who buy bs6 volvo diesels and petrol engines will find themselves running out of spares and support in a short while. So while it makes a lot of sense for volvo to dispose all stocks of IC engines, the customers should think thrice.
