Hyundai i20 Active removed from website

Thanks to Manivannan Palanisamy for sending this information in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Hyundai i20 Active removed from website-hyundaii20active03.jpg

Hyundai India has removed the i20 Active from its official website. It is unclear whether the model has been discontinued or temporarily taken off the shelves before the BS6 emission regulations come into effect.

The i20 Active had a slightly higher overall height compared to the standard i20. It had black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and different front and rear bumpers with silver skid plates. The car also had different alloy wheels and roof rails.

The i20 Active was powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The engine was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It also came with a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 220 Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. This engine was offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Re: Hyundai i20 Active removed from website

After the launch of the Venue, this car makes no sense. Plus removing the I20 Active will help to avoid cannibalism.
The Active was priced at the upper end of the spectrum & it was coinciding with the Venue's pricing.

Now the line-up looks neat-

Premium Hatchback- I20
Sub 4 meter crossover - Venue

i20 Active was anyway a stop-gap arrangement till Hyundai designed a proper sub 4 meter CSUV. Glad that it is taken off now. The lineup is now clean with all cars being desirable.

I used to call this the 'Tatkaal' car. When it was launched, the regular i20 had a waiting period. So, anyone who's willing could pay Hyundai a stiff premium and get instant delivery.

Re: Hyundai i20 Active removed from website

I20 active was a niche product like a real top end i20 and it has served its purpose well for Hyundai. Besides hyundai might want to free-up their production line ahead of their upcoming launches.
On a side note, i feel the i20 active somehow looks better inside-out than venue.
