2014 Volvo XC90 Receives Top Safety Pick+ Rating from IIHS .

Quote:

You can only get that + if your vehicle gets a good rating in all the types of impacts, including the small overlap scenario where only a small part of the car impacts a barrier. This places much higher strains on the car, but the XC90 stood up well to re rigors

If we refer to the reports on IAB then Volvo Auto India has teased the Volvo S80 facelift on its Facebook page. The S80 is the oldest model in its category and the next generation product is not expected before 2015. When it does come, it would be based on Volvo’s own Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) featuring Volvo’s Drive-e four cylinder engines. The current Volvo S80 uses Ford’s architecture and engines. A reliable source confirms that its local launch is planned in the first quarter. Like other Volvos, the S80 is a CBU.

The S80 facelift had its world premier at the Geneva Motor Show last year. Changes include new front and rear bumpers create a ‘stretched’ effect endow the car with a lower and wider stance. New rectangular Daytime Running Lights take their place at the front, wider grille, while the taillamps are rounded off to make the car appear closer to the ground. Chrome exterior highlights sum up the cosmetic changes, giving it a more premium appearance. Volvo offers European buyers the option of fitting 19-inch wheels. The Swiss-premiered S80 also gained equipment, integrating the “Sensus Connected Touch” infotainment system with a 7-inch display. The infotainment system lets the user browse the internet, access Google Maps and stream internet radio, Active High Beam Control (which autonomously switches the headlamps between high and low beams), a heated windscreen, and a heated steering wheel were the other inclusions.

Volva teases with the interior pics of the upcoming XC90. They say its the most luxurious interiors that they have designed.

Quote:

The first pictures of the 2015 Volvo XC90 revealing the interior were released today, about three months ahead of its exterior unveiling in August. The XC90 is getting a full revamp, 12 years after the first generation model was introduced

Volvo calls this the most luxurious interior it has ever designed. The cabin takes on a neat and simple interface with most of the common buttons substituted with a large centrally placed touch screen, mimicking the Tesla Model S.

The 2015 XC90 would launch with a seven-seat configuration and a gear lever made by Swedish glass maker Orrefors. The volume and start/stop switches and controls will be diamond-cut, details that would become the “jewels” in the interior, it said in a two-part press release today.
