The RS7 is the sportier version of the A7 Sportback. The car retains the four-door coupe styling of the A7, but gets vents on the front bumper and trapezoidal LED headlights. Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

While RS7 is a good halo product filling a particular niche of super sedans, I really don't understand what Audi India is doing with only 3 car currently in their portfolio? Where are the volume cars that help in building the brand. Where is the A4 facelift, Q7 facelift, the new Q3 and so on.
All we have is 2 over priced cars, Q8 and A8 and a boring sedan with no real USP (A6).

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

RS7 looks mental it surely has that attitude on its face, no doubt!

But Audi is now a dying brand in India isn’t it? Haven’t heard anything positive from this brand for years now either on the YouTube reviewers / on our forum by mods.

OT:
I did see the entire floor of Audi showroom being extremely empty & seemed vacant on electronic city road, Bangalore. Not sure if they have closed their doors here?

Regards

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

Finally something good from these clowns. They have step-by-step finished themselves in India with poor product choices.

Starting with bringing a 1.4L petrol on the A4.

Not launching the A6 on time. And then finally launching it with just a petrol engine.

A3 is a bit of a joke honestly.

New Q3 could have brought in some numbers.

Q5 / Q7 are just too boring

New A8 came in late again and at an exorbitant price.

The issue they had with their dealer in the North further messed things up for them.

Let's hope they bring products which actually sell. So that BMW has competition and stays on its toes and enthusiasts like us can go and buy even better BMWs

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

Saw this thread and did some quick online searching. So Audi are launching the RS7 in India before launching the A7 (i.e., the regular version of the same car)?

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

1.94cr !! What is Audi India smoking? The BMW M5 Competition Pack as well as the E63S AMG are both around the 1.55cr mark.

Expect 50L + discounts in due time. With this kind of pricing strategy, the luxury car market has become like shopping at Dmart. Nothing sells at MRP and lot of things sell on BOGO(Buy One Get One), we are just short of this in the Indian luxury car market now

Ironically I just got this notification on my phone, even the media can't believe the pricing hence the typo

I think they're trying to position it as a rival for the M8 and the 8 Series. The RS7 offers sort of a best of both worlds; makes the same amount of power as the M8 and offers the "practicality" of a four-door coupé like the 8 Series.

But I agree, Audi India has clearly lost the plot regarding their strategy in general. Only four cars on sale of which three are 1.25 Cr+

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

I think, apart from the M5, E63 AMG and M8 comparisons, we also need to see it as compared to what the same car costs elsewhere.

At today's conversion rate of 75.16 (USD:INR), at a pre-tax starting cost of $115,000 (₹ 85.4 lakh) in the US, our ex-showroom cost is about 2.3 times higher. One might argue that we have super high customs etc, but that is for Audi to think about. I am sure there are ample opportunities to localise assembly and source common parts locally.

It's not like Audi is doing splendidly and don't need to make serious efforts to keep their dealers afloat. They sold just 4.6K cars in 2019 compared to 9K for BMW and 13.8K for the three pointed star. Heck, even JLR managed to outsell them.

If they can bring it down to 1-1.2 cr, it will be a big sales and marketing success. At the current pricing, it is a dud, one that most of us will only ever see on screen, in flashy roadshows or on the BBT website, spare some extremely well endowed Indians who will barely ever drive it.

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

At that price it is DOA. Expect some great deals on this in due course of time. The car itself looks okay IMO, nothing special, in fact it could be said that its trying a little too hard to be a jack of all trades.

AUDI still believes its 2012/14 when the A4/A6 and the Q7 sold by the buckets.

That ship has sailed AUDI.

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

Guys, wait. The Audi RS7's actual rivals are the BMW M8 4-door and the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4 Door. We only get the M8 2-door and that's priced at Rs 2.15 crore while the AMG GT 63 4 Door is priced at Rs 2.42 crore. When compared to these cars, the RS7 is priced like a steal.

Yes, not many can afford it, but when compared to its actual rivals, the RS7 is almost Rs 48 lakh cheaper!

A point to note is that the BMW M5's and Mercedes-AMG E63's actual rival is the Audi RS6 Avant.

Re: 2020 Audi RS7 teased ahead of launch

Rightly said above, the RS7 isn't in competition with the M5 and E63S. The RS6 is.
Compared to the GT-63 4 Door which is its competition, the RS7 is cheaper by almost 51 LAKHS OTR!
Also, compared to the 8 Series Gran Coupe, the lower spec 840i is horrendously expensive with lower specs at 1.8CR, while the RS7 is a superior package at a similar price for a buyer looking at a vehicle in that segment.
