Hello,

As human beings, we yearn for the need to scratch that itch.

For example:
We can only achieve so much in life. And It's obviously impossible to fulfill these with just one car. As it is getting more common for Indian households to have multiple car garages,
What would be your Ideal Three Car Garage under 1 Crore Rupees?

Only rule is, the car in question must be currently sold in India.

Since I am a family of two currently, here goes my choices:

1. BMW 330i M Sport - 48 lacs

2. Toyota Fortuner 4WD - 40 lacs

3. Volkswagen Polo GT - 12 lacs

Neo

Interesting thread!

1. BMW X3 - For city/ weekend drives.
2. Ford Endeavour 4*4 AT- For weekend drives/ long road trips.
3. Ford Ecosport AT - For daily city duties.

I know this list will touch 1.1 Cr, but can be had for 1Cr. after discounts.

For #3, heart would want Polo GT Tsi but due to DSG, I will stay away. And the fact that I already be having X3 to have fun!

M-sport 330i 50 Lakhs (Fun car/ show off car)

Kia Seltos DCT 17 Lakhs (daily driver, no slowing down for those pesky potholes)

Skoda Kodiaq for parents to be chauffered around in (33 lakhs) (more comfortable than anything else in this segment)

Mercedes E220d for 60L
Isuzu V Cross 20L + 2L for mods
Tata Nexon EV 17L

Ideal mix of luxury, ability and utility. Appeals to the head as well as the heart.

Innova crysta - beater, Chauffer driven, almost everyday car., airport drops/pickups etc.
Skoda superb - self driven weekend trips., less traffic days city drive.
Used 330i - To satisfy occasional adrenaline rush.

25 + 38 + 37

1. Jeep Wrangler for 60L - for "go-anywhere looking cool" duties

2. Kia Carnival for 25L- for those family trips with lots of luggage

3. Nexon EV for 15L- for guilt free office commutes

For me, one of them will definitely be the MG ZS EV. It is a fantastic car, and the range limitation in a 3 car garage is easily manageable.

The second car will be a 7 seater - Kia Carnival

The third one will be a sedan, I haven't decided which.

Now, where do I get that crore from?

BMW 330i M Sport - 52L as a weekend/fun car

Sparingly used (2018/19) Endeavour 3.2L 4x4- 30L - the go anywhere car and no more worries regarding waterlogged roads

Nexon EV -18L beater car for running errands

Used 2017+ BMW X5 for 40-50L
Skoda Superb for 35-40L
Seltos DCT for 15-20L

Forgot new Harrier automatic. Probably change to it from Seltos if budget permits.

As everyone seems to have the same idea, I too will go with a 330i
1. BMW 330i M sport (50L approx) - The fun/premium car
2. Tata Hexa 4x4 XT Manual (21L approx) - The long tourer/rough-roader
3. MG ZS EV (27L approx) - The city runabout

The remaining 2L is all that I do have currently with me. stupid:

I have come up with 2 lists, and I am finding it really hard to decide (in my dreamland) which trio I would actually go for. So here it goes-

1. With the first list, I have taken a slight leniency when it comes to the limit of 1 Cr-

i. BMW X5 xDrive 30d xLine-

What is your ideal three car garage under ₹1,00,00,000 (1 Crore)?-bmwx5default.jpg

This car will give me the best of both worlds. Driving please, monstrous torque from the diesel and due to it being an SUV, will empower me take this car anywhere without worrying about those unnatural speed breakers

It currently costs about 99L in Mumbai.

ii. The 2nd car would have to be a reliable one(no Germans :D) which still isn't too bad to drive. The Grand i10 Turbo fits the bill at around 9L on road.

iii. The BMW G310R for cheap thrills-

Now the total of the above 3 cars comes to slightly more than 1.10 crore but with discounts(at least on the X5), this can be brought down to around the 1.05 Cr.

2. This list is much closer to the limit of 1 Cr-

i. E-Class 350d at 89L on-road.

The baby S-Class, Mercedes badge, sedan dynamics etc. are some of the positives I can think of.

ii. Seltos HTK diesel at about 13.5L on-road-

For the times when ground clearance is needed.

iii. I am going to stick to the 2 wheeler Beemer in this list as well, the G310R-

The total of this list may come out to around 1.05 Cr, but with some discounts, can be brought close to the 1 Cr mark.

To summarise both the lists, I won't ever compromise on my primary/most important ride, even if it means compromising on the secondary and tertiary option. A 3 series, an Endeavour and an i10 may sound more balanced, but nah! that's not how it is for me.

Now to decide between the above 2 lists, truth be told I am a bit more inclined towards the 1st list. This is due to the fact that due to an SUV(X5), I need not worry about taking my car out of some known regions of Mumbai. I can pretty much take this car anywhere throughout the country, with only the size/width of the vehicle as a constraint. I can't say the same about the E-Class as it may involve 'choosing' my journeys and destinations with the E-Class and taking out the 'modest' Seltos to the paths unknown.

With that being said, ideally, if the roads in India were better, accompanied by scientifically made speed breakers, I would go ahead with the 2nd list and enjoy the feeling of driving a sedan with a Mercedes badge on it, along with the loads of practicality a full sized diesel sedan brings to the table compared to a 2 seater sports car costing roughly the same.

P.S. If the 3rd choice has to be strictly a car, I would go ahead with the Kwid 0.8 RXL and use it in case of emergencies, as a loaner car when required, to teach someone driving etc.

There is a parallel thread on multiple inexpensive cars against one expensive car. I have voted for multiple inexpensive cars and shall go by that (surpassing the limit of 3 car garage)

1. Abarth Punto - 10L
2. Toyota Camry - 45L
3. Jeep Compass Trailhawk (O) 4*4 - 26L
4. Ford Figo S TDCI - 8.5L
5. Polo GT TSI - 11.5 L

The above shall be my garage if I had a luxury to spend a crore on cars.

Nice thread.
My choices are:
1. Lexus ES300h
2. Innova Crysta (2.7 Z)
3. A Mruti Baleno RS

and use the rest of the money for gasoline lol:

My choice of 3 cars adding roughly upto the eight digit figure:

1. Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 ZX AT (~30 lakhs) : Practical, spacious and ever-so-reliable 7 seater. Perfect highway express for inter-city runs and errands with the extended family in tow. Reasonably quick and fun to drive as well.

2. Hyundai Kona (~25 lakhs) : EV tech (fun in it's own way), compact size with decent range for intra city commutes. Highly economical to run and maintain (?). The daily driver.

3. Skoda Superb L&K (Petrol, ~42 lakhs) : The luxury sedan for highway drives, leisure trips.

My picks:
  1. For all trips including with family :- Tata Harrier XZ+= 21.5 Lakhs
  2. For everyday duty :- Ford Freestyle 1.5 TDCi Titanium+ = 9.5 Lakhs
  3. For arriving at a party in style :D :- Honda City ZX = 15 Lakhs
  4. My dream bike :- BMW R 1250 GS = 22 Lakhs
  5. Triumph Street Triple RS = 13 Lakhs
  6. KTM Duke 790 = 9.5 Lakhs
  7. RE fan in me :- Interceptor 650 = 3 Lakhs
  8. Remaining 6.5 lakhs = all scooters available in the market lol:
