re: Tata Nexon, Altroz prices increased from August 10, 2020

Before i judge too fast, there seems to be something wrong in pricing too...XZ+S petrol is at 11.04 but XZA+S is at 10.70? XZA+(O) is at 10.84? XZ+(O) is at 10.44?
Just to be clear XZ+S is one variant below XZ+O (top variant) XZA+(O) is top variant automatic.

That's pretty steep for nexon petrol. Nexon lost VFM tag when tata increased prices with BS6 introduction, quite recently and again now?

I was honestly hoping for small reduction in price for XZ+S petrol, to bring it into <10L bracket...to have some mercy on Bangalore folks. But Tata has other plans, it seems.

Wow!

This is a shocker especially when XUV 300 just lost it's most expensive C-SUV tag to Nexon.
So Nexon gets dearer further and sits at very dangerous spot of being NOT Value For Money car at all.

On diesel front TML seems to have absorbed the price hike, which is a good gesture.

Also I am baffled to see the steep hike of 94,500 for particular Petrol XZ+(S) variant when XZA+(S) (which is nothing but XZ+(S) with autobox) costs have remained the same.

Seems something wrong here.

re: Tata Nexon, Altroz prices increased from August 10, 2020

Pleased to know there is no increase in the Diesel variants. I am in the process of purchasing a XZA+(S) Diesel and am still bringing myself to terms with the steep 1.5lac difference between the Petrol and Diesel variants. In Bangalore with the high taxes factored in, the difference comes to nearly 1.86 lacs!

In my view this move is counter intuitive by Tata especially considering the intense competition in this CSUV segment and the arrival of the Kia Sonet (loaded with features and with a conventional TC+Diesel engine combo). Likely to drive away potential customers.

re: Tata Nexon, Altroz prices increased from August 10, 2020

Recently tata has decreased tigor's prices and increased altroz and nexon prices. By doing so IMO Tata is trying to vacate a price band in its line up which will be filled by soon to be launched tata Hbx. I have a gut feeling that tata Hbx will start from 5.6 lakhs +/- 15k which I think is good starting point considering it will be 5 star safety rated product. The only area of improvement pending with tata is to make its 1.2l petrol engine more refined and improve its power delivery. If they manage to accomplish this, then HBX will be one car to wait for..

re: Tata Nexon, Altroz prices increased from August 10, 2020

When I bought Nexon diesel XZ+ in March last year ex-showroom was 9.9L .After discount I got the Ex-showroom for 9.77L and now it is 11L.
For the additional 1.23L we get, BS6 engine, TC, ESP, Electronic brake pre-fill, Hill hold, rear AC vents (old one has ac blower) rear charging point.

Seems worth the hike. The main issue is tax structure, with 11L ex-showroom the tax will be 17% as opposed to 14% for under 10L cars. So on road difference is much higher almost 1.8L this looks very steep.

Could it be to not let the DCT(if launched) look pricier at launch? IIRC, the Nexon DCT was spied testing.

So..

Tata hikes Nexon's prices by up to 94,500.

Where as Mahindra reduces prices on XUV300 by up to 87,129.

And BTW.. Kia Sonet (A Close Look : Kia Sonet) is around the corner.

We have always loved Tata Motors for being different! Haven't we?

Tata seems oblivious everything happening in the automotive industry. Didn't they get the mail regarding the Kia Sonet unveil ? They are overestimating Nexon's brand value. At this price XUV300 will take away even the third position in CSUV race from Nexon. Hyundai twins will bag the first and second position anyway.

Any sources? It's great news if Tata manages to deliver a 5-star rated product below the current base Nexon. But I guess we might have to wait till its actually launched and tested to be certain.

I don't think this is a good move in current market condition. People are not buying too many cars anyway, again at a time when competitors like XUV3OO is reducing price.

Its only a probability that HBX will get a 5 star safety rating Because its going to be based on Altroz's alpha platfrom, But at this point of time nothing can be said with 100% surity until product itself is tested by some vehicle safety rating entity.

re: Tata Nexon, Altroz prices increased from August 10, 2020

One of the major USPs of Nexon was its Price. If they had provided a DCT/TC gearbox in facelift/BS6, even then price increase would not have pinched much. But when I see a Nexon AMT at 16 lacs on road (Diesel AMT top end, still without six airbags) in Bangalore, I am like .

Tata+amt+2 airbags max, just doesn't equate to 16 lakhs.
Looks like Tata missed out on the unvieling of Kia Sonet!

No doubt its one of Tata's best products, but IMO, any car with AMT gearbox should not cross 12/13 lacs mark, any model or any fuel type. If I was in the market for one now, I would patiently wait for Kia Sonet launch.

This price revision could be to accommodate upcoming HBX but they have a tough competition to look after before increasing the prices. In this aspect, one should give it to Maruti-Suzuki for successfully managing such a large portfolio with overlapping price ranges.

This is either them preparing to offer the same hike as a discount for festive season/year end offers or this is them being oblivious to market analysis.

Either way Kia will be happy.
