DC2 explains why the custom Kia Carnival is more luxurious than a Rolls-Royce or Maybach

DC2 explains why the custom Kia Carnival is more luxurious than a Rolls-Royce or Maybach-carnival_4.jpg

DC Design is unarguably the most known name in the car customisation market. DC Design has re-branded as DC2 earlier this year and the customisation house currently only works with the interiors of the vehicle and transform cars to luxurious lounges.

Time to book DC2 Kia Carnival

re: DC2 explains why the custom Kia Carnival is more luxurious than a Rolls-Royce or Maybach

I think DC needs to understand that luxury is a lot more than a bigger screen and better seats. The fit and finish of the Maybach and Rolls Royce would exceed that of the custom KIA by a huge extent. Not to mention, the seats seem to offer great recline but looking at the pics they don't look cushioned or comfortable. Overall, the custom interiors do look nice but comparison to a Rolls Royce and Maybach is far fetched.

Good for Dilip Chhabria and DC2. There is a market out there for business people and politicians who need to travel inter-city or in the interiors and need these facilities of privacy etc without the budget or need for a Maybach. Comparing it to a RR or Maybach is a marketing gimmick which I won't deny to DC2. Hope he enjoys success.

Frankly, this old Rafi song immediately came to mind.

I wonder if his modification to the car's electrics (larger TV etc) are tested for the sort of wiring that is done, battery drain etc? Any such change in a manufacturer goes through an extremely long QA process - in fact, that process would apply even if a small bolt or screw got changed.

I doubt the only thing you can hear inside the KIA would be the ticking of an analogue clock. There is more to RR than just leather seats and large TV.

As David Ogilvy said so many decades back, it was an electric clock in the Rolls even back then.

The effrontery of creating a poor imitation and comparing it to a Maybach or a Rolls. Like all those so called branded items available in Chor Bazaar.

I have used a bus service designed by DC, it was a good design to look at. But ergonomically, it was a nightmare. The placement of the switches, ease of accessing the sliding table etc.

Hope these issues are ironed out in their latest creation.

What happens when you are watching a movie on your 32 inch TV, sipping on a chilled drink, with snacks laid out on the Power Table Trolley, AND the car has an accident?

Does DC2 do crash testing after modifications? I can imagine things flying around inside the car and causing severe damage to the passengers even if they are belted up !!

Say it's a great modification, agreed.
Say it's super luxurious, hmm agreed.
Say it's worth the money, agreed.
Say it's inspired by RR or Maybach, agreed and appreciated.

But when you say it's as good as a Maybach or Rolls Royce, it becomes a joke to laugh at.

I always remember some people saying "Baahubali is the answer to Hollywood's graphics". The only thing I can do about it is laugh at the statement.

re: DC2 explains why the custom Kia Carnival is more luxurious than a Rolls-Royce or Maybach

It seems clear now that DC is so desperate to just sell cars that they are trying any and everything to stay in the limelight. I am sure no one at DC even compares a Rolls Royce with an Innova "lounge".

It's high time they shut shop and move on and realise no one wants their ghastly body kits or cheap interiors which wear off in less than a year

DC Design is already under NCLT. That is precisely why they are operating under DC2 name.

Re: DC2 explains why the custom Kia Carnival is more luxurious than a Rolls-Royce or Maybach

I'll be the first to say that the Carnival is one heck of an MPV. If I were looking for a purely chauffeur-driven car, I'd honestly be confused between it and the E-Class. But comparing it to a Rolls-Royce or Maybach is really pushing it. Comes across as cheap publicity.

The other problem I have is that DC's modifications don't age well. That quality & craftsmanship is simply not there. Looks great in the pictures & when new, but after 2 - 4 years, its a horrible experience and you wish you'd never done it.

Here's the thread link (DC Design in talks with carmakers for capital infusion. EDIT: Runs out of cash). Bankrupt as bankrupt can be.

A Kia is a poor man's Honda/Toyota ; am sure that's how it is perceived in the Middle East and North America.

Agree with you on DC's mods ; I happened to evaluate a DC modded Fortuner 3 years ago and found that half the gizmos weren't working, the big chrome handles had all started wearing out, plus the wiring set up in the rear was nothing but a maze !!!

Re: DC2 explains why the custom Kia Carnival is more luxurious than a Rolls-Royce or Maybach

I always had this question whenever I come across heavily customized cars as these. Does it really provide the same level of safety vis-a-vis it's stock form. How do they ensure the curtain airbags etc are still in play when they totally rip off each bit of interiors out for such mods. If these are actual images, I can't see even the seat belt buckle, it's webbing or retractor

Isn't that also a reflection of majority of car buyer's psyche in choosing comfort over safety. A reason why so many of them are sold in huge numbers. Don't want to keep mentioning the perennial culprits.

Out of sheer procrastination at my part I never got the vehicle transferred to my name, they got the vehicle refinanced and now the NCLT appointed resolution professional is sending me legal notices for the misappropriation of asset.

Blame on me though, I am solely responsible for this unwarranted headache of mine. Trying to figure out a way out, though chances of favorable outcome are pretty thin.
