I think all tata safari's come with this kind of system. My safari came with three keys, 2 with what tata calls 'transponders' fixed in the keys, and one plain key. To use the plain key, you need to hold a card near the steering column. The card has the transponder embedded into it. The third key can only be used in conjunction with the card or else the car wont start. The card can also be used to program any duplicate keys you make from the A.S.S to work with your car.

Hi all i dont know about the cost being passed on but the delivery of my swift vxi has gotten delayed because of the new lot of cars with immobilizers. However my dealer called me up today and he said that the shipment has started today with the new lot. He will confirm the delivery dates tomorrow. Even if the cost is passed on to the customer I think it will be worth it !!

No, now you will need to go to Maruti to make a dupe. Already happens with the Corollas.

Yeah sure for that but they have reduced the prices by 2.5 K and increased by 3K for immobilizers. So you have to pay only Rs. 500 extra.

I got my Swift LDi on May 15th. How do I know if it came with the Immobilizer or not? There is no sticker or etching on the windows, or anywhere else, thought the insurance does mentions "Swift LDi Bharat Stage 3 with Immobilizer".

The RFID range deepened on the size of the antenna on the tag ie: the size of the antenna in the key will be able to transmit only to say about 4 to 5 cm. this avoids the problem of detection of the key by systems in malls and other places. And these systems should not cost maruti more than say 600 to 1000 /- at the most. As both the tag is short rang and the reader is also short range and the system will be mass produced.
