Around Rs. 4500 of diesel on my Chevrolet optra magnum. My running averages approximately 1k kms per month.

Did not find a thread on the household fuel expenditure per month. Given the rising cost of petrol/diesel/ CNG and our use of cars and 2-wheelers a discussion on this and sharing of data may be useful.

Let me start with my data. Our spend is about Rs 18 to 20,000 a month spread over 4 cars and about 2500 to 3000 kms a month. Of course expenditure relative to income is more interesting. While such private data may not be desirable to share my guess is transportation fuel is a single digit percentage of monthly disposable income for most on T-BHP.

I travel more than 2500 to 3000km per months. I use my company owned Swift Dzire VDI or my own Brezza ZDI. With an average fuel efficiency of 20KMPL(Highway), my monthly fuel expense is something around 8k to 10k.

That is great. Thanks for bringing life to this - I too was thinking it might be good to have similar data.

At our household, averaging over an 8-month period, our average fuel expense is 9000 - 10,000 a month.

These days I use the two-wheeler about once or twice a month. The poor chap keeps sitting waiting for a chance to run around. Once I "upgrade" to a decent cruiser bike, I might start using the bike a bit more. That will happen when either honda or suzuki have brought in a decent cruiser with ABS that is to my liking.

I also use a bit of car-pooling and ride sharing - A fairly old habit now.

I also club all my errands so it's done in one trip - grocery and vegetable shopping usually on the way back home from work etc.

Average running - 2400-2600 kms / month
around 140-150 Liters of diesel per month and about 3 liters of petrol on the tvs jupiter.

With the limited running I do nowadays, I hardly spend more than maybe 3000-4000 per month on both Petrol and Diesel and this is at the very maximum...
My Dad may spend around 1500-2000 a month on petrol for his car.
But no more than this for sure.

Just ran the numbers and realise we spend quite a bit on fuel.

My wife’s Vento runs about 10,000 km per year, and gives a mileage of about 7 km per litre of petrol. At about ₹82 per litre of petrol, we spend about ₹10,000 per month on fuel for that car.

For the BMW, I have spent about ₹120,000 on fuel in 22.5 months over 15200 tracked kms - so, it is just over ₹5000 per month on fuel.

So the total cost is about ₹15,000 per month.

Since I car pool with my Managing Partner, he takes care of my fuel expenses for our office commute.
Apart from that I spend anywhere between 2-3K per month on fuel for my outstation travels.
