im sure many of us would have had thoughts like...
" how i wish the *** car came with $$$$ engine "
in fact there was even a thread sometime back on OHC- NHC engine body combinations..
so heres what this thread intends to do....
**to know various combinations of body type and engine type that we have always aspired to have but was not available in the market**
there are 3 categories of purpose one needs vote for and of course some reasons for choosing the body-engine combo
1) city commuting
2) family car
3) one for the drag strip and the occassional traffic signal sprint
to limit the combinations some criteria to keep in mind would be
1) only cars sold in india by manufacturers who have a presence in india i.e either manufacturing facility or their own offices.
2) there body and engine donor should be from within 1 segment above or below each other i.e one should not aspire for a OCTY engine in a maruti 800 body !!
3) body and engine can be from different manufacturers also
4) no cars( engine/body ) to be considered from models that are not sold after 1970- ( this is just to avoid vintage car bodies with modern engines !! )
City Commuting - An Indica (body) with Verna's diesel engine.
Family Car - An Endeavor (body) with Safari's engine.
Fun (Egobooster) Car - A spanking yellow RS Octy (body) with Accord's V6 engine.
Note: I am at work and hence not VERY creative. May have a change of mind/heart later.
City commute: Swift with Ford Rocam 1.6L engine
Family car: BMW M3 coupe with M5 engine
Highway/speed: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo XI (not released) with Evo XII (definitely not released) engine.
A zen with a turbocharged VTEC or a baleno engine .. Complete fun factor ..
here in Kol:
City Commute: M800 with Zen mpfi engine
Family car: same as above
Fun Factor: Padmini with Padmini S1 deluxe heart.
hmmm. Tight restriction in place! Lets try and work around them.
City Commute: White Swift, dark tints, 17' black wheels and a Honda City Vtec Engine! (or if that is not allowed, a Baleno engine).
Family Car: BMW 3 series with a 535D engine. / Regular price range: Skoda Superb with the Toureg V10 diesel!
Fun Car: Porsche Cayman with a 911 Turbo engine. / Regular price range: Swift with a Skoda RS engine.
City commute: Swift with baleno Engine
Family car : BMW 5 series with M5 engine
Drag strip car:Lamborghini Gallardo with a LP640 engine.
ok i thot i will add in a few points here based on what i had in mind when i started this thread
1) city commute - the choice can be based on a car with decent top end, good low and mid range and VERY GOOD FE, good manueverability
2) family car- lot of space, safety , air conditioning , comfortable ingress/egress etc
3) drag strip car - performance, performance and more ...
here are my choices
1) city commute - GETZ with a MARUTI ESTEEM ENGINE
2) family car - NHC with the very same engine
3) for the drag strip and for show off in city - STANDARD 2000 body with a octy rs engine
My choices:
1) City car -The Daewoo Matiz with the Esteem/Accent CRDI engine. The car is nice in its current avatar, but the 800cc pot is woefully underpowered.
2) Family car - The Fiat Adventure with the Octy's 1.9 TDI. Room with the mileage!
3) Race track/traffic signal sprint - The 118NE with the Civic/Octy 1.8 RS engine. A rwd that will rock!
Superavi
As far as Bikes go (since I'm a bike fan as well)
1) City bike - I'm stumped - almost all bikes are city bikes!
2) Family bike - Okay, i'm giving up on bikes.

4X4 Adventure :Tata Sierra 4x4 with tata Safari's dicor engine.
City commute: FIAT Palio 1.6 with its 100 BHP engine
Highway: FIAT Linea with 1.9 JTD
Here is a practical choice for Santro owners -- fit the 1.1 L new Getz Prime engine. This was originally a Santro engine, probably tuned up and with a different ECU. Don't know how it will work on the Santro, though.
CITY - Alto with Baleno engine (My dream project)
Family - Innova (Afterall its family)
DRAG - Lancer with MIVEC Engine Turbo Charged
Just for fun if i would have to choose cars which are not sold in India i would have chosen AMERICAN MUSCLE SUPER CHARGED for CITY and DRAG...
