Hi,

While deciding to purchase which one out of the usual trio - Palio, Getz or Swift, I happened to notice one thing about the Swift at the dealer showroom.

When one window glass is down (about 3-4 inches) and I slammed the door shut, the glass rattled. I don't know whether it was a problem in that specific model or not (I was checking out second-hand Swift at Maruti Truevalue). I'll go today and check out the new one.

I tried the same thing with my Baleno's door and the glass remained rock steady.

I just want to ask all Swift owners whether such a problem does exist ?

Its not a problem with the windows.. Probably because its second hand.. check how many Kms the car has done and when it was last serviced..

heh the glass sure rattles. especially if you have got speakers installed in the doors. i have been facing the same issue since day 1 and the dealer says its pretty regular.

what more... ever since i got the third party central locking installed, the doors have been rattling too. i get them checked everytime i go to the dealership. they would do this and that and fix the problem. but it would reappear after a while.

that has been MINE experience. can't say for others. i have owned a swift since march last year. have driven it for 20K.

I dont think swift has such a problem. It might very well be in the used car you saw. If you go by the build quality then Palio would be the sturdiest among the trio you mentioned.

It had done 13k km. BTW, the rattling was not too great (like the local bus windows)...it was more like the glass trembling.

build quality has always been debatable issue with Swift.

i agree with that. the interior plastic always give you this bad feeling.

Mine definitely makes a noise and I think all the swifts have this issue. I think this probably has to do with the thickness of the glass as well as the play available in the glass guides that it is placed on. However, once the window is fully up, the glass probably gets a firm footing and hence the rattle disappears. So it's a design issue in my opinion.

I have a swift done 11,000 kms and the windows rattle, all of them. Also has always had a suspension problem. Just got it fixed at the dealers but started again. Think its the front balance rod bush which keeps on giving way.

Maggie had a thread on this rattling issue. I dont know if its the same issue.

Going by this thread, all Swifts manufactured after May 06 DO NOT have this problem. Can anyone with a post-May 2006 Swift canfirm that ?

my one has similar issues, talk about fragile windows, especially when they are rolled down and the door is shut, instead of a mild thud ones get a clanking of the glass with metal sound!!the rear seat doesnt quite lock in, needed to put insulated tape to insure the niggling seat sound doesnt come..otherwise its a great car !!

I can confirm that there is a door related issue with Swift. This is from a casual chat with a Suzuki Workshop mechanic itself here.
