According to Autocar this car can be either the XUV500 based SUV or the Marazzo based MPV.
A few days ago, a yet-to-be seen Ford SUV was spied in New Delhi, being off-loaded at a cargo terminal. A single image of this mystery SUV has surfaced online, which clearly shows the fresh new look and design of this future Ford SUV. What can easily be confirmed is that Ford is moving to its latest design language, recently seen on some of its global products like the for-China-only Ford Equator.
Quote:
Let’s start with what we know; the vehicle spotted is unique and not a Ford on sale anywhere else globally. We also know that it was bound for a design clinic in Delhi (when the picture was taken), where feedback on the design is sought. We can also confirm that there are currently three new Ford SUVs on the cards for India.
The first one off the blocks will be Ford’s C-SUV, which will designed by Mahindra-owned legendary Italian design house Pininfarina. This new SUV will be based on Mahindra’s all-new XUV500. Ford’s version will share the chassis, suspension system and engines, but these will be comprehensively re-tuned to meet Ford’s requirements. Like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, each will also have their own individual identity.* While it’s not clear if windscreens, windows and doors will be different at this stage, what we are sure of is that the pair will look almost nothing like each other, with the SUV with a blue oval on the nose having a clear Ford identity. This pair will use a 185hp version of Mahindra’s 2.2 diesel and a 190hp version of Mahindra’s 2.0 petrol; both of which made their debut on the new Mahindra Thar.
Alternatively, this mystery SUV could also be Ford’s future B-SUV, again jointly being developed with Mahindra. This new SUV, codenamed the B745 (S204 for Mahindra), will be a 4.3m-long Creta fighter powered by Mahindra's G15 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and the diesel on offer is also likely to be a derivative of the 1.5-litre four-cylinder seen on the Mahindra Marazzo MPV. Since this SUV isn’t likely to see the light of day until 2022, this is a long shot.
Also on the cards is a major facelift expected on Ford’s compact SUV, the EcoSport; and this, dimensions and proportions willing, could alternatively be what we are looking at. The new EcoSport, expected towards the middle of 2021 will get Mahindra's 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine

One thing’s for sure, Ford’s new SUVs will look nothing like the Mahindra SUVs they will share a majority of components with. And Ford insiders claim they will drive very differently too.

I don't have much details as I didn't prod much, but the crux is that Ford hasn't launched any new product for a long time in over 10 lakhs price range & the segment is lucrative for any manufacturer.
What a fantastic looking thing this is! I have been ogling at it since yesterday.
Really can't wait to see more details in another scoop.
The autocar article however is quite speculative - and suggests it could be any of their upcoming models. But once we factor in other details, I'm inclined to think this will be the XUV counterpart and nothing else.
Marazzo - Engine bay might not hold a larger engine, so I doubt what Ford will bring to the table, which mahindra can't in the MPV category.
Creta rival - Too early in the development pipeline to find a proper prototype.
Also, considering the business case of Ecosport owners waiting for an upgrade- there really is no option in the market today. Consider the number of such owners holding on to their vehicles since 2015. At an average of 3000 units sold each month, it would amount to a minimum of 1.8 lakh ecosport owners till date. So any sensible executive would concentrate on this area first.
(Did not consider Ecosport buyers of 2013/14 as many of them might have moved on)
Assuming this car were to see the light of the day in 2022, Ford would have plenty of prospects from their existing customers. Even a fraction of the current ecosport owners will fill their pipeline for the first year.
But then, all this will be true only if it drives like a Ford- which it hopefully will.
Here it is, the New Ford Edge 2021.
This is China Spec. Indian Version likely to get new Face and RHD Configuration.
Dash design and layout similar to Upcoming Mahindra XUV5OO.
According to Autocar, this is one of the 3 cars for Emerging Markets, other being a C-SUV (New Ecosport) and a MPV.

It is a Ford, it is new; but this might not be the model we are talking about in this thread. This one in your pictures is a China-spec Ford Edge which has been around since 2007. Whereas the new SUV will be developed by Mahindra and Ford together.
EDIT: Did not see your edited post, but wasn’t this SUV supposed to be developed by Mahindra and Ford together?

Yes, this is the 3 row China-only Edge that has been on sale there since 2015. Looks like the Chinese Edge is getting refreshed for the 2021 MY.
I don't think this vehicle is related to the Ford-Mahindra JV as the 2nd gen Edge is based on the CD4 platform (which itself is pretty old and due for a replacement).

So that means you have almost already revealed the new XUV 500 dashboard layout through this post. Is if this news is true then we have another scoop here.
Whatever it is, I hope it comes with 4x4 or AWD. Too few options for those who like to occasionally go off-road.
The front does look smart and gives us an idea about what to expect from the ford versions of the ford-Mahindra JV.
While I'd like to believe that this is indeed ford's version of the upcoming XUV500(given how multiple media reports pointing out towards the same), on a personal level, I'd still remain a bit apprehensive about the same - provided we are yet to come across clear (sans camouflage)photos of next-gen XUV500, and all of a sudden, we're getting the so clear photos of Ford's version of the same - which was expected only in 2022.
Just my 2 cents!
Was just watching an interview of Anish Shah, Deputy MD and CFO at M&M on ET Now. He categorically mentioned that the first car from the Ford stable (as a part of this JV) will be rolled out only 2.5 - 3 years from now.
The Edge looks really luxurious with the interiors inside and I see that it's equipped with 4x4 and memory seats function. The integrated screen and speedo resembles close to the upcoming XUV500. Let's see what Ford brings out at launch and I hope they do not mess up the variants every month like they always do now.
Coming to the thread starting pic, the front grille looks like a mix of Ford Explorer, Benz EQC and a little bit of mahindra influence on the grill with the rectangular chrome pieces on the grill which resembles like the current XUV500. There's a slight influence of the Hector as well towards the end of the grille
Excited to see this car come soon in India
Good concept. I didn't read through the thread, but are they making an electric version of this as well? It looks like the future in China and EU at least.

The W605 may be a worthy replacement/upgrade for all EcoSport owners within the Ford family. I am eagerly waiting for this one now. |

Absolutely. Just like you I have been driving the Ecosport since 2013 and thoroughly love it. Have not been very convinced with the other new pseudo SUVs.
Will be looking for an upgrade in a year or two. May be this gets launched by then. The only issue would be I might be needing a 7 seater by then.
And yes, there is a huge gap in Ford's product portfolio which this could fill up. There was a feedback survey that Ford did earlier this month and I did mention that specifically.

The Led placement and overall design is somewhat similar to the 2021 Hyundai Tuscon.
