This got done too yesterday, a clean job thankfully. They seem to get the plates a day before the appointment date and are more than happy to let you come over a day prior if the plates are already with them. Both occasions of my two cars, they weren’t overly fussed about the date and time nor was there too much rush creating a long wait time.

This is again the lower parel centre for MH 01 - the MCGM parking next to One World Centre.

Due to my concern of being in another state, I researched which of the available centres was closest and zeroed in on Mauli in Gadhinglaj. I called the helpline to confirm if it was OK since they didn't appear on Google maps nor was any phone number given by Rosmerta. I was told that once I book, the details of the selected fitment centre would be sent to me.

They did send me the details but nobody is answering my calls today. The HSRP helpline people have difficulty in understanding my situation. I asked what happens if the fitment centre says they will not do it. My question was valid because when I called the Sai Service location (from their list) I was told they do not fit HSRP on old cars.

The response I got was that I should visit there at the appointed time and if they do not do it, I should call the HSRP support number and report it. Then they will raise a complaint against the vendor and provide me another vendor.

I tried to explain to her that I have to drive 4 hours+ to get there and another similar time to return home and then make another trip when they provide another vendor. She just could not understand the problem.

Good thing. Booked the appointment for my Polo GT today since the Thar already came with HSRP plates. Luckily I got VW Downtown Sewri , my service centre itself as my fitment location. Got the appointment for 18th Feb so this should be done by then.

Guys I will be booking an appointment for getting the HSRPs installed on our Honda City and BMW 5 Series here in Pune soon but before I do, I have a big concern regarding the need for drilling into the body of the car and its consequences in the long run.

Both of our cars have the rear number plate installed on the boot which is metal and not the bumper. Even if we overlook the horrors of having someone literally drill a hole in the metal because they cannot use the factory mounting points, what about rust? Are they taking any steps to prevent that somehow?

Any specific vendors that you guys have had good experience with here in Pune regarding the same?

Anyone who got the HSRP fitted for a two-wheeler - could you please confirm that two-wheelers don't need/have security stickers like cars?

Two wheelers don't get stickers.
Main purpose of stickers is the color coding: Blue for Petrol, Red/Orange for Diesel and Green for CNG (Not sure what happens with the Electrics). It's to help identify the fuel they're running on.
All two wheelers in our country run either on Petrol or Electric, so no stickers. Plus you need to have a windshield to stick the sticker on from the inside :)

Not clear why drilling holes would be required. In my case, the HSRP came with no holes, and they drilled holes in the plates based on existing mounting points. The car body/bumper were not touched at all.

I had a very professional and smooth experience at Sehgal Autoriders, Law College road. Efficient, no nonsense and clean job. Just a polite request to get the plastic cover, which I declined.

This is not specific to the HSRP for old vehicles. When I got my new Tucson last year in Pune, the person from the dealer got the HSRP plates and drilled into the metal boot cover to fix the plate with rivets. I am not sure if there is any other way to fix either!

I also thought the same way but you never know with these govt orders/drives like this!

Hi there. I just wanted to know if HSRP plates are mandatory on a car that is more than 15 years old? If yes, then where and how can I get it installed? I have a 2008 Maruti Zen Estilo and I am residing in Hyderabad. Although I was never challaned for non HSRP plates in Hyderabad, our 2010 Xylo was challaned once in chennai. I plan to travel across India in this car and don't really want to be bothered by cops.

Penning my experience of HSRP fitment for Pre 2019 cars
1. Booked through (https://bookmyhsrp.com)
2. Rosmerta provides service for Maharashtra. Keep Chassis No. and Engine No. handy
3. Registration must be linked with a mobile number. OTPs are required all across the process. For older cars - If you receive challans your number is registered :)
4. Fitment location has to be booked; better to pick car dealerships for cars and bike dealerships for bikes. Generally, they get the plate a couple of days in advance.
5. Complete fitment done by them. Older cars (sedans like Vento) might have an issue with rear number plate placement (cosmetic lookwise). You might want to carry a plastic license plate holder (this is optional). They denied putting rivets as older cars might not have a provision for the same and used the same number plate holes as present on my car.
6. It is very important to fit the barcode on the windshield.
7. Dealer will destroy older plates for security
8. Finally check for 2 number plate fitments and one barcode sticker.

I got mine done at a Hyundai Dealership in Aundh, Pune. Was done 15-20 mins

Yes it is for 15+ year old cars as well. I have a relative who's 2005 Honda City is less than a year from hitting the 20-year mark, and he too had to get them installed, even though he plans to swap it out for a new one in less than a year. Plus cops may take a lenient view if you're in your own state, if you're out of State, you're just a portable ATM :)

The deadline to install HSRPs in Maharashtra has been extended to April 30, 2025.

Got HSRP done for 1 Car (about 1 month back) and Activa (today). RTO is different and hence fitting center was different for each.

For car, did not get any confirmation SMS post fitment. But for Activa, received a confirmation SMS immediately after fitment was over.

Query: Any ways we can check the status of compliance online? Tried different sites but not able to get any option.

Booking site has option to track order but for some reason, it says "Data Not Found" for both of my orders.

Such a stupid thing this is to miss this simple validation facility :Frustrati

The process was otherwise simple and efficient so far.

Asking for a Friend - Any Idea how to get this done for Out of State Vehicles?

For example, getting a KA registered car to be retrofit in Maharashtra? Any leads on this or do we just have to drive down to Karnataka to be fitted.

Only MH-registered vehicles allowed as of now, as the RTO data is state-specific. If it is a KA-registered vehicle, it needs to be taken to the concerned RTO in Karnataka.
