The WagonR is the most affordable of the range. The all-inclusive monthly subscription charge for the WagonR LXi is Rs. 12,722. The Ignis Sigma is available for Rs. 13,772 in Delhi for a 48 months tenure.

Cars leased through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe are registered in the name of the customer and come with a white number plate. The subscription fee includes maintenance, 24x7 roadside assistance and insurance for the complete tenure.

Customers can lease a vehicle for 24, 36 or 48 months. After the completion of subscription tenure, the customer can also opt to extend, upgrade the vehicle, or buy the car at market price.

The other cars available through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe include Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, Baleno, Ciaz, and XL6.

Makes little sense to me - more so for cars that hold up the resale value very well. Subscribe is a fancy term of lease here. The EMIs are usually at half this cost with negligible down payment.

Re: Maruti WagonR, Ignis & S-Cross now available on subscription

Car Lease in India is such a big scam in broad daylight.

Ignis Sigma cost ~4.9L ex-showroom, and WagonR LXi for 4.5L, and Maruti wants to charge 6.6L and 6.1L respectively for these cars in 48 months? On top of that, they want to sell these at market value after the tenure is over.
Including road tax, maintenance and insurance plus RSA, MSIL would still return a decent profit in the 48 months itself. The sale after the tenure is just the wanting their cake and eating it too.

I doubt anyone except businesses, who can write off these expenses, would fall for it.

If manufacturers do it well, then the monthly lease rate should actually be the cheapest for cars that hold their value well, as it is the depreciation that dictates monthly lease payments in developed markets.

True. It is a cruel joke at the current rates. I wish we one day see deals as tempting as in the USA. Those make a lot of sense for customers wanting to change their cars every 3 - 4 years without hassle.
