Still very expensive for it’s size. BMW could have corrected the prices with the launch of the 220i.

So 220i M Sport vs 330i Sport has a 2L difference in the on-road price in Mumbai, after discounts the 330i Sport will turn out cheaper.

20i for 30i money, no thank you BMW I will pick the 330i anyday!

Also factor in FWD + Aisin vs RWD + ZF8.

This could attract the young folks who would prefer the coupe styling and the frameless doors over things like rwd or a more potent engine. Every other new launch these days is astronomically priced so i would not get into that department.

I personally would still pick a 330i sport over this compromising on the features and the m sport kit. Did the same 5 years back when i switched from a top end Octavia which had more features to a prestige 320d which was way more fun to drive and still plasters a grin on my face.
Not everyone is an enthusiast and am sure this would also find some homes, better to wait for Mercedes rival to the 2 if it's coming here. The A class sedan looks way better and the interiors are definitely 2-3 notches better.

Buy the left over Octavia vrs with some discounts (saw one in a blore showroom with no takers) if you want a fun FWD car. No point in buying a BMW which isn't RWD.

Re: Review: BMW (F44) 2-Series GranCoupe 220d

Ridiculous over pricing of this car continues. Overpriced by 10 lacs in my opinion. God bless BMW India.

Re: BMW 220i M Sport launched at Rs. 40.90 lakh

I took the 220d for a long-ish test drive (observations posted on the TBHP 220d review here (Review: BMW (F44) 2-Series GranCoupe 220d)).

The main problem with the 2 Series 'gran coupe', thing is that you're basically getting a cramped, comparatively low-on-power, FWD sedan that's based the Mini / X1 chassis.
I drove the 220d and the combination of the FWD + Aisin gearbox make it seem a LOT slower than the 3 series.

I could understand is this was a good 7-8L cheaper than the 3 - that would make it a compelling value proposition and help BMW expand their client base, but they got the pricing for this thing so wrong, it's not even funny.

This car is overpriced by 10 lacs. Its a disappointment. Even the dealers have conveyed this to the top brass but somehow they seem to be oblivious to ground realities.

God Save them.

As much as I love to follow the news about launches on team-bhp, it would be a bit more informative if news mentions if the car is FWD or RWD . Given the way BMW has embraced FWD powertrains, I would not be surprised if this is yet another FWD.

I agree, this car is overpriced for sure. In addition, I personally don't like the looks of this either, I prefer the 3 series any day, even a preowned 3 over a brand new 2 series.

This is indeed a FWD , I agree with the whole sentiment of this thread. Why would anyone buy this over 330i? I don't see any plausible reasons apart from small parking space.

This will depreciate faster than BMW will ever realise and have the same fate as the 1-series.

Re: BMW 220i M Sport launched at Rs. 40.90 lakh

One of the most pointless cars in BMW's lineup anywhere and it's a joke at this price.

Some cars can getaway because they look smashing and they are bought for being fashionable but this one looks ugly from every direction.
