These include obtaining learner's licence, renewal of DL, changes of address and certificate of registration, issue of international driving licence, notice of transfer and application for transfer of ownership of vehicle.

When financial services like opening bank accounts, MF portfolios can be done online with video KYC, it is only logical to move RTO services online - identity and address proof documents can be verified in the backend just like it is being done by financial service providers. While documents are uploaded even now for RTO services, there seems to be no validation happening - processing is taken up only once papers are submitted offline.

A welcome move but RTO is one department which technologically very backward in many respects though they seem to be working on it now. Somewhere many (RTO officials and agents) are going to be unhappy with this because it would reduce their "income" if the papers are all clear for an individual raising a request
