The BS6 Isuzu MU-X, now launched at 33.23 lakh

Spotted this on Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore. Looks like the old design. It was a testing car for sure.

Looks like the chaps at Isuzu India lost all hope of new version's launch here in India, and decided to take the current version out for a spin as a test mule, just to get that feeling

I was also told that they use the old body sometimes with new engine while testing. I am not sure if that is the case here.

I must also say that the driver was not happy that I was taking the picture. That could be because the car had also met with a minor accident and there were dents on the bonnet and the left front door.

I honestly believe, a Japanese can battle a Japanese. For every Fortuner sold, MU-X could have been a very good alternative had Isuzu been proactive and treated Indian consumers the same way they do others.

How can they be rewarded with sales with this attitude?

For a brand which doesn’t have much presence in India, the pricing for the 4X4 AT is a few thousands less than the Endeavour Titanium Plus 4X4 AT and Fortuner 4X2 AT/4X4 MT.

Pretty ambitious pricing by Isuzu India! They should have targeted the Alturas G4 pricing, if they were serious about selling the MU-X.

The pricing is too optimistic IMO. They could have kept it well under 30 lakhs for the auto & launch manual variants too. Guess they are carried away with Toyota's prices & maybe want to make fat profits on every unit they sell. They have been out of action for long as they didn't launch the BS6 variants sooner after implementation & the dealerships sport a desert look. It will be difficult to get customers for this price, out of sight brand & dealerships that operate from grocery shop floor sized spaces.

re: The BS6 Isuzu MU-X, now launched at 33.23 lakh

Whoa! 4x4 AT variant of the MU-X used to cost less than 30 lac ex-showroom in its BS4 avatar, if I am not mistaken. If so, this is an exorbitant price hike and the SUV is as good as dead-on-launch at this price point. While the MU-X was always a great workhorse and a tough-as-nails Japanese SUV, it never could stand up to its rivals, primarily due to a literally non-existent dealer network, plain-Jane interiors, lack of features, and mediocre engine performance. Despite this, it managed to find a few buyers due to the sheer VFM proposition it brought along at ~29 lac ex-showroom. With that advantage gone, not sure who would choose an MU-X over the Fortuner or Endeavour.

Another good car tanked, thanks to unrealistic pricing

Not just this one but Isuzu overall, their entire line up, I wonder if they would ever recover the cost involved in going BS6. This must be another brand queued up to exit our market soon.

The BS4 came with a 3L power unit.
If am not wrong, this BS6 version is powered by the same engine as in the V-Cross - 1.9L
Gives a whole new meaning to overpriced when you compare it against the prices of Endeavour and Fortuner.

Too optimistic pricing. At these prices, everyone will buy a fortuner.
