Is it actual matte paint or some wrap?

It was only a matter of time before cars had to get matte paint options apart from bikes

Most probably is a factory finish, more details will be out when it launches during the festive time.

The look is good on this Matt Edition. No doubt about it. Anyway its hard to get a car like Polo look bad.

Anything one does with it - would only look good.

That said - these "editions" are too many and too frequent now, especially since these have been coming along since many years also. Till the next generation arrives, it appears as if VW India has decided to literally grind the Polo down to a final door-mat edition.

Not sure of anyone else here, but the more pictures I see of the matte finished Polo, the more I feel the car looks 'old'. That sense of class/ sophistication seems to be missing and it feels like a 'ricer'.

Wish I'm proven wrong.

Pictures don't do justice to this colour. It looks absolutely beautiful in real life.
It's really amazing how the Polo has aged. You stand next to it and it just doesn't look like a decade old design.
It really is a timeless design.

I have a question though, in case of repainting a panel would a usual FNG be able to do a matte paint job properly. Is the process similar to other gloss shades or is there a difference in the material or method used?

Saw the video walkaround in YouTube. Its a wrap job for now. May be final version will come with proper paint job.

I think VW is just trying to sell the old stock. They keep on coming with these iterations (since inception) without any substantial change, similar to sticker work by maruti.

Very soon they will launch special editions such as:

Polo west/east/north/south edition depending on the area they sell.

and the list goes on.

Yes 1.0 TSI was a change but India is a country where people need to see change on the outside more than inside (engine) so this won't help the cause except selling 50 more polos in a year.

The Polo looks super duper HOT! I think it's about time manufacturers start offering matt finish straight from the factory. Even if it's a special edition, it will be a meaningful one, especially for enthusiasts.

Looks absolutely stunning - I wish the Polo could look a bit more 2021 from the inside, its really such an enthusiast’s delight in that segment and price point.

I am a bit wary of how easy to maintain a matte finish car might be though. I know from my experience of helmets (not sure if that’s a fair comparison) that the matte ones are MUCH harder to maintain than the normal glossy ones.

Nah, this is too drab for me. The Polo looks good in normal bright colours like red or blue, matt colours really do not do it justice. If at all, a matt black option would have been much preferable than this muddy, dreary brownish grey colour. Would not be my choice of colour if I were to pick the Polo.

Now there's one special edition that looks interesting. VW and Maruti tried everything from decals, paint job to bring out some life to their decade old models.

Wish they had a darker shade of alloys. Something like the C63 AMG - All black/dark.
